this post is being made to explain a bit about the antivirus rescue CD's in Sardu, where to get them, how to name them, how to use them,...
I hope this will help some people.
My plan is to eventually do this for all tools on Sardu, if you have any questions meanwhile, just make a new post.
Based on the outdated "getting started" post.
Let me know if you see mistakes or outdated info.
Anti-virus utilities
These utilities will give you a anti-virus solution while not booted in windows. These tools have their own platform to run on (Linux or DOS in most cases), can scan and remove items that cannot be removed while windows is running(polymorphic viruses) or when the windows installation cannot boot.
A normal scan with anti-virus software in Windows is recommended after using these utilities.

Virus definitions can be updated from the internet.
AOSS does not remove infected files, it disables them, so later you'll have to remove them using the anti-virus program Spyware Doctor for Windows(link).
- AVG Rescue CD

Virus definitions can be updated from the livecd on the internet.
This program scans your drives and lists all files that are infected. These files can be selected and removed.
It also has some tools that come with it:
- Midnight Commander (file manager)
- Windows Registry Editor
- TestDisk (Hard drive recovery/tester)
- Ping (Ping internet addresses)
- Several other small programs
- Avira Antivir Rescue System

- BitDefender
Bitdefender Rescue CD

This BitDefender Rescue CD boots in a Linux environment with a scanner installed and downloads the latest virus definitions by default. It also includes some nice tools, see this PDF file for more information:

There is a option in the boot menu to update the virus definitions from the internet.
The Dr.Web LiveCD includes a virus scanner and some other tools:
- Firefox (surf the internet)
- Sylpheed (mail client)
- Midnight Commander (file manager)
- Leafpad (text editor)

This is a ZIP file, you will need to use a extractor like 7-zip to extract the ISO.
File name needed for use with Sardu: "f-secure-rescue-cd-3.11-23804.iso"
You can update the virus definitions from a file or from the internet, they will be updated automatically when you start the rescue CD.
This rescue CD also has some tools on it:
- PhotoRec (recover data)
- TestDisk (Hard disk Testing and Recovery)
- Smartmontools (Inspect your hard disks)

You can update the virus definitions from the rescue CD connected to the internet.
G-Data is a multi-engine virus scanner, it has been known to use the avast!, Kaspersky and BitDefender engines.

You can update the virus definitions from the rescue CD connected to the internet or manually update the virus definitions in windows using this tool.
Kaspersky has a good reputation as virus scanner, it is by many people seen as the best antivirus rescue CD. There is a "help.chm" (windows help file) available in the ISO file, under the "help" folder.
- Panda Safe CD

The program detects installed Panda products on your computer and uses the latest virus definitions found. You can also define a virus definition manually.
- Virus Block ADA's(VBA) Rescue CD

The virus definitions are automatically updated before the scan starts.
