Particularly Intel drivers for x86 are known to be a problem (I can confirm this) because even if they know perfectly well how to make drivers for x64 (using all available memory), I guess they as a MS partner make on purpose x86 drivers having issues when you use more than 4 GB of RAM in x86, just to help MS pushing x64 systems.
So make an image of system before installing any driver, latter go one by one when you install drivers and reboot after each one to detect any incompatible driver.

hi alacran,
have you experimented with early XP version before SP1? Im having trouble finding any XP prior to SP2.

thanks

No, the oldest XP CD I have is SP-1 and today I'm not sure it is readable yet.

I think I have a copy incoming now but not sure until after I run a MD5 check on it.

installed XP SP0 in VM, installed ok but dont have enough ram to check it in vm.

my plan was to make it usb bootable but I did not know usboot only worked with SP2 & 3 XP so I will have to check into other ways to do it later unless anyone knows if XP SP0 & 1 are not capable to boot from USB?

working on nlited 2003 w/driverpacks and stuff now but plan to get back to this mod on XP soon.

Sure they are.

In the good ol' days we used SP1 alright:

OK,...  :juggler:

Here, this app does the job for my version of XPx86

Here, this app does the job for my version of Win7x86

(don't blindly click download without checking off this host's download manager)

On XP, when you double click the app, there is a giant button, click it and you're done. Next, when you restart, you will see two options in XP boot loader (64G and the other is your default)

On Win7, Double click the app and click "apply" button if it's NOT grayed out. You will see 128G option upon next restart,...

If your version of OS is supported, chances are that you will boot successfully and see more then 4GB in system properties otherwise,.. remove those files mentioned in boot.ini/BCD...

-Good Luck...

The XP "XP64G" patch (and other ones) is discussed at length here:

http://www.msfn.org/...n-4gb-with-pae/

and as dencorso already posted it cannot be considered entirely reliable/stable, particularly when used in conjunction with USB devices.

hi Oxtie,
i read the small print and there is no checkbox on those links or files available. i would like to test this method also, is this patch available anywhere else? these links just open random new tabs and all content in the new tabs is blocked by my equipment (for good reasons) makes me suspicious of this patch as well but I can test it in a quaranteen'd environment if I can get a copy without jumping through a 1000 hoops.

thanks

Actually, i didn't think it would open so many loopy tabs. I have my ad blockers and script blockers etc in place, didn't notice even one such annoying pop ups.

I'm too lazy to find a new host, let me know of any host that you find easier and i will Edit this post with new links.

edit: so,.. I read Wonko's link and found updated version of XP64G that possibly also patches USB drivers.

Here the link of XP64G 2.1 (click the link with 11.34MB)

A guy also posted files needed to be replaced but,..

Fact is that the mods discussed in this thread remain unreliable.

OTOH, simply activating /PAE on boot.ini and adding a Gavotte ramdisk using PAE remains a good option for those using XP x86 and having more than 3.2 GiB RAM. If the resulting ramdisk is big enough, after setting DisablePagingExecutive=1, one can even put the pagefile in it, besides things like the Temporary Internet Files...

BTW: Gavotte Ramdisk Version History and Read Me in English.

Can someone share *accessible* link to XP64G 2.1? I can't download/register for Baidu cloud from Czechia.

Olda, nech sa páči:

http s000.tinyupload.com/?file_id=22474846287784766805

https ufile.io/z77vw

I've kept the file the way I've got it back then inside rar archive with weird name.

Please, run it through antivirus first before any use.

While I've used this file fine so far I cannot guarantee you any kind of data integrity for the files you'll download by the links above.

Here are MD5 checksums for both archive and exe:

5fe5a1e6b87f9635ca9030f313199b0d *62153.rar
c68e8c3d777ad0d1c216b47f692d77fa *XP64G.exe
