I had a line in boot.ini
C:\syslinux.bin="SysLinux"
that when i selecte in the menu I boot syslinux
now I have had to do a chkdsk from safe mode and no longer works : boot error
I do not remember how I created the file syslinux.bin
forse:

mkbt.exe -x -c C: C:\ntfs.bs
syslinux.exe --force --install --mbr C:
MbrFix /drive 0 savembr syslinux.bin
mkbt.exe -x NtfsC.bs C:

but it does not work.
How do I create a file syslinux.bin so that I can recall from a menu item in boot.ini?

but it does not work.

That is a conclusion, not an observation. If you share your observation(s), then it is more like the reader is right there, beside you.

Some alternatives for saving/restoring disk sectors are DD for Windows and TinyHexer.

I tried:
dd if=?DeviceHarddisk0Partition0 of=c:linux.bin count=1 bs=512
but not solve
Is there a way to chainload syslinux residing on HardDisk primary partition from boot.ini?

but not solve

Another conclusion. Please share observations. What do you see with your eyes that makes you say "but not solve"?

You are doing it. If it's "not working," then someone needs to share your observations.

syslinux.exe -f J: J:syslinux.bin

If J: is NTFS partition you have to use SysLinux 4.06 or later.

If that does not work for you, re-read Sha0's post again and one more time if needed:
