I had a line in boot.ini
C:\syslinux.bin="SysLinux"
that when i selecte in the menu I boot syslinux
now I have had to do a chkdsk from safe mode and no longer works : boot error
I do not remember how I created the file syslinux.bin
forse:

mkbt.exe -x -c C: C:\ntfs.bs
syslinux.exe --force --install --mbr C:
MbrFix /drive 0 savembr syslinux.bin
mkbt.exe -x NtfsC.bs C:

but it does not work.
How do I create a file syslinux.bin so that I can recall from a menu item in boot.ini?

That is a conclusion, not an observation. If you share your observation(s), then it is more like the reader is right there, beside you.

Some alternatives for saving/restoring disk sectors are DD for Windows and TinyHexer.

syslinux.exe -f J: J:syslinux.bin

If J: is NTFS partition you have to use SysLinux 4.06 or later.
