Just to let you know about this free and portabe GUI program to let the user run any progrm with the same privileges as the TrustedInstaller / Nt Authority/system:

PowerRun is a portable freeware to launch regedit.exe , Cmd.exe or other software with the same privileges as the TrustedInstaller / Nt Authority/system Why would you need it? Sometimes it is just not enough to just be running as Administrator, Maybe it’s a file or a registry key that is locked or not editable, PowerRun a tool with this powerful privilege most likely solve that , PowerRun doesn’t require any installation process or additional dll files.

Thanks alacran  :)

PowerRun can be interesting for RunAs Trusted Installer  :)

I will test it and report here about it.

PowerRun of BlueLife is a nice tool and is working OK and can be used as well as RunAsTI of Joakim Schicht

In both cases the WARNING - Location systemprofile\Desktop missing can occur on FolderSelect or FileSelect  that you simply must close and can proceed

Just came across AdvancedRun Version 1.22 from nirsoft.

https://www.nirsoft....vanced_run.html

32 & 64 bit portables available.

Run as TI is just one of its features.

Version 1.20

  • Added 'Run As TrustedInstaller' option. You can use this option by choosing 'TrustedInstaller' in the 'Run As' Combo-Box.
  • You can also run a program as TrustedInstaller from command line, for example:
    AdvancedRun.exe /EXEFilename "c:\windows\regedit.exe" /RunAs 8 /Run

EDIT : can be run from command line. can provide a cfg file as argument. so you could automate running wof_compress as TI for example.

PowerRun + Explorer++ (a perfect couple):

Using PowerRun to launch Explorer++ as TrustedInstaller (+ System) from our running OS or VHD we can access in GUI some restricted locations, and also edit or delete certain files/folders that is not ususually possible using the Windows Explorer, which by the way the OS has internal code to do not allow to launch it as TrustedInstaller (even using PowerRun or similar).

Just drag and drop Explorer++ (or any other program as notepad.exe or regedit.exe) to the  window of running PowerRun and run the program from there, but also we can create a shortcut on our desktop to keep it handy for next time, that shortcut will be launched by means of PowerRun as Trusted installer + System.

This is very useful if booting from a OS, Mini-10 (8.x or 7) VHD and gives the user the power to allow him/her to do certaing things that required to boot from Win10XPE (that usually boots as TrustedInstaller).

Nevertheless there are certain files/folders that can't be deleted from Win10XPE or PowerRun + Explorer++, as an example the infamous System Volume Information folder, in this case our only remaining option is launch from (Win10XPE, a VHD or a real OS) PowerRun + CommandLine to delete them.

I will add some examples of my little *.cmd files used for this pourpose, edit them as required, put them in same folder of PowerRun (to keep them handy), run PowerRun and drag and drop to it the edited *.cmd file (or any other program you want to run) and run it from there.

To remove (delete) folders (you can save it as Delete-Folder.cmd):

Spoiler

Just change N:\My folder with the full path of the folder to be removed/deleted.

To delete a file (you can save it as Delete-File.cmd):

Spoiler

Just change N:\My file with the full path of the file to be deleted.

WARNING: DO NOT delete protected files/folders if you do not know per sure that it is safe, or you may end with an unbootable or seriously damaged OS.

Hope this can be usefull for some of you.
