Hello,

I have a question, I used to manage easy2boot a USB stick.

I copied 2 iso windows 7 (x86 & x64)

When I boot with the USB stick 3.0 and launch a Win7 installation, I get an error that says it lacks a driver cdrom.

Here is the photo that shows the error.

Does someone an idea how I can adjust this worries

Thank you in advance,

Regards,

Mortblanche

Hi

As Windows 7 doesn't support USB 3.0 out of the box, this is expected. The solution is to use a "USB 2.0" port to boot instead of "3.0".

It is supposed to work with USb 2.0. You should post the details in this thread - http://reboot.pro/to...ent-discussion/

thank you for your return.

I read that it had integrated USB 3.0 drivers in the boot.wim file but nothing happens.

Thank you in advance,

1. Are you using a USB 2.0 port (USB socket)?

2. What type is the USB stick - Removable or Fixed/Local Disk?

I tested with a 3.0 port via an additional card and also with usb 2.0 ports on the motherboard.

the USB 3.0 is a scandisk extreme USB 3.0 64GB and is recognized as a removable drive.

iso images used are moose

What do you think?

Easy2Boot works by modifying the \AutoUnattend.xml file on the USB Flash drive just before it boots from the Windows Install ISO.

When Windows WinPE starts to boot, in runs wpeinit - this sees the \AutoUnattend.xml on a removable drive, interprets it and then runs the LOADISO.cmd file which is on the E2B USB stick.

You should see a blue console window appear before Setup displays any user GUI windows?

The LOADISO.cmd file contains code to load the ISO file as a virtual drive - when Setup runs, it will see the Virtual DVD and not complain about 'needing CD/DVD drive drivers'

It sounds like your ISOs are modified so that they don't run wpeinit.

I suggest you download and test with a standard MS vanilla Win7 Install ISO - if that works then your modified ISO is the problem.

You can either modify your 'special' ISOs or manually run LOADISO as soon as Setup starts.  See Installing Win7 under a VM for details of how to manually run LOADISO.

Hello,

Regarding your question?
You should see a blue console window appear before the installer displays all the windows of the GUI?
no I have no blue window that appears.

To perform the test under VM, I'll do it.

For Windows 7, I took the iso unmodified but it changed nothing.

Is it possible to get a USB 2.0 external hdd? What is the maximum size?

Regards,

Mortblanche

If you used an unmodified ISO of Win 7 then something is wrong with what you are doing!

Did you put the ISO in \_ISO\WINDOWS\WIN7 folder?

Are you SURE that your usb flash drive is the Removable type  (listed by RMPrepUSb or Windows Explorer as 'Removable')?

If you use a USB hard disk then you will also need a Removable USB Flash Helper drive to do Win7 installs.

I suggest you buy a USB 3.0 external Hard Disk - I use a WD Passport USB 3.0 2TB drive with E2B and it works well.

Hello steve6375,

after verifying the path to the Windows 7 iso, I have attached a picture showing the way or is the iso.

Regarding the second question, RMPrepUSB, the USB key is seen as fixed disk. I enclose you a second question.

can you tell me how you make a Helper USB key?

Thank you for your return.

I find these files in the specified folder \ _ISO \ docs \ USB FLASH DRIVE HELPER FILES

[/URL]">http://426740USBHelper.png

should I just copy the 5 files in the root of the USB key?

Regards,

Mortblanche

You need to copy helper files contents to another USB flash disk, which is seen as removable by Windows.

The current Sandisk extreme is set as fixed disk, thus not suitable for the helper files. Look at RMPrepUSB screenshot.

You can't test this in a virtual machine, at least not this way.

Use real hardware.

I just tested on VM via QEMU, nothing happens so I applied your process with SHIFT + F10.

I edited the file with notepad AutoUnattend.xml (there are many lines) I am enclosing the corresponding picture.

Then I started loadiso.cmd and iso mounts but the installation does not advance.

but I retested with another machine as specified by ilko

I'm back after you

Mortblanche
