RamDisk synchronize on schedule

Best Answer v77 , 20 January 2020 - 11:26 AM

I have difficulties to imagine when this could be interesting.

Let's assume you are using the Toolkit.
Synchronizing folders can use a lot of CPU and disk access if there is a lot of files, even if there is no file to copy.
And if you just did important operations on the ramdisk, there is a manual command to synchronize in the RamDisk Configuration Tool.

If you still want to try, you can use the task scheduler of Windows with this command:
"C:\Program Files\ImDisk\ImDiskTk-svc.exe" SYNC

Don't forget to check "Run with highest privileges" and/or to select an account with enough privileges.

Is it possible to sync the contents in RamDisk on a scheduled basis? Or is there any alternative to achieve it? And if there's none, can this feature be added in?

Can you explain, possibly by providing an example of what do you actually need/want to do?

Something loosely *like* (now abandoned) Samedir?

Or Dsynchronize:

Yes, it is indeed something like that. I'm planning to load my database into the RamDisk, but copying/synchronizing (was using FreeFileSync) would be impossible, since the databases are locked.

But I could synchronize the (locked) database using ImDisk Toolkit. Which is why I am asking this question.

Thank you! This is the command I want. Thanks for the heads up too. Right now, priority to get the data synchronized outweighs the burden it will be placing on workstation.

Good. :)

Let us know how it went.

Should the question be more like "how can I copy/backup a file that is in use or locked by the OS?", (just in case and JFYI), see:

Tested it with task scheduler and on repeat every 10 minutes, and it works!

Well... I'm not the best with words, haha. Just glad that the case is solved.
