I copy the nv_lh drivers from the install.wim to Workbench\Common\Drivers_x86\Nvidia\ then enable only the Drivers Integration script. Nvida drivers then load and start for me. On main configuration I select wpeinit run mode = normal. Then either load driver from devmgmt.msc or via my hwpnp after network loads.

:loleverybody: On main configuration I select wpeinit run mode = none

I need to use a newer driver because my card is not listed/icluded in the \Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nv_lh.inf file.

I have a global question:

There's a way to use the new free download:Windows Server 2008R2-SP1 x64
as the DVD source???

Thanks for all the input, folks.

I have determined that for my standard Win7PE build there is quite a number of drivers in the System32\DriverStore folder missing. I have followed paraglider's tip, copied all drivers from the install.wim's DriverStore to my hard disk and pointed the driver integration script to that folder, now having all drivers complete in the boot.wim.

With my newest build I could use both my desktops NVidia GTS 250 as well as my Intel GMA 965 Express in my notebook, meaning that the hardware was detected and showed to be present in the device manager. Again though, I found a flaw: My goal was to have at least 2D acceleration for a smooth desktop experience, but although dxdiag showed me I had 2D acceleration, I've seen quite some flickering using the live system on either of my computers as I have seen before without the mentioned drivers. Also, 3D acceleration was mentioned not to work by dxdiag.

By the way: I have checked for d2d1.dll and d3d8.dll, both are in the System\Windows32 folder.

I think I will try to use Make_PE3 and check the results to have a direct comparison.

The DirectX support of Win7PE_SE is better, than the one of MakePE.
MakePE has missing DirectX files, Win7PE_SE does not.

Then I'll leave that aside (now that I could finally add the Microsoft drivers) and will try to digg a bit deeper into my problems with Sysinternals & Co.

If I can find something or even can solve my problems then maybe I can give my two cent back to the great community :loleverybody:

For 1 - 39 why not just create a winbuilder script to copy the files directly from the mounted install.wim to the target directories?

It seems winbuilder is buggy when you try to copy these long directory names. It generates an error with DirCopy and says it succeeded. It creates the directory but copies no files:

[DirCopy,%iw%\winsxs\x86_nv_lh.inf.resources_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_es-es_1a0cd4825e31cab0\*.*,%tw%\winsxs\x86_nv_lh.inf.resources_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_es-es_1a0cd4825e31cab0]

Yes a script whith those folder's are a better option.

The problem here is that my DVD of Windows7 RTM-Enterprise is in *SPANISH*.
for english DVD you have to change two letter's :
\Windows\winsxs\x86_nv_lh.inf.resources_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_es-es_1a0cd4825e31cab0 to
\Windows\winsxs\x86_nv_lh.inf.resources_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_en-en_1a0cd4825e31cab0

Cheq inside your Install.wim file to look if i am correct...

Didn't we had that problem already with PE1? :dubbio:

Have you already tryed, writing the folder names into variables, before using them in the dircopy command?

In a script, the language markers would need to be wildcards anyway, for it to be universal.

Its going to be difficult to script it as at least one of the directory names are different by more than the language code on my source:

x86_nv_lh.inf.resources_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_en-us_1a41779e5e0ad90b\

Here is a batch file to do the copy ( first three lines will need to be adjusted ):

I don't have a nv_disp.inf in my win7 x86 file repository.

Why are the ramdisk files needed?

Why are the ramdisk files needed?

@paraglider:

As far as I understand the ramdisk files are nice to have, but not vital (correct me if I am wrong here). At least I didn't experience any differences yet regarding the ramdisk.

The nv_disp.inf should be the (in this case 266.58) drivers from NVidia, while the nv_lh.inf is the Microsoft driver. So the nv_disp should be included via the Additional Files script or an extra script.

And thank you for the effort of preparing the script. I have checked about the copy error (mounting the boot.wim) and have to say that all files are present for me in all the winsxs subdirectories, while I again am using the german Windows 7 x86 eval iso.

@gogetax64: Thanks a lot for the tip, I have tried it, and everything SEEMS to be fine, but I still do not have 3D acceleration according to dxdiag. It states that my GTS250 was found and being used, but it also shows that 3D acceleration is disabled. Also, the fast desktop response is missing yet ...

My next step will be another build leaving the display.script from dera aside, maybe that will do the trick. I will keep everyone updated about my success or non-success
