Since posting found "Hiren’s boot cd is now legal? https://discuss.howt...now-legal/11252
"From reading Wikipedia and the Hiren page, it looks like the only commercial software that is still included is the XP PE environment plus a few extra Microsoft files and DOS utilities.
Since Microsoft isn't going to be supporting XP anymore, and they could have easily shut down Hiren years ago, and haven't, I'm not sure how I feel about it anymore.
My original objection was that it contained a lot of pirated commercial software, but it looks like they've slowly but surely move away from that and only provide freeware or trials of software, and now it's basically clean, other than the Win PE base.
Going to look into this a little more. I might have to change my mind about it."
"Mini xp is in there. It on the other hand does not allow full options in it. only the basic and even to that extent it is limited. It is a great tool for recovery if your hard drive crashes. I have only used a few of the programs in the hirens boot cd. They work wonders for me when I repair computers." Agree
Does anyone know of a better "Windows Repair CD"
