Please help, how Winbuilder better than standard M$ process (http://technet.micro...5(v=WS.10).aspx) to build Win8PE?

Winbuilder might be considered easier to use because its gui based. And i think the MS process is command line based. Depends on youre preference.

And as has been discussed here many times, WinBuilder is a tool. The various "PROJECTS" (like MultiPE, Win7PS_SE, Leopard, etc) are the scripts used by the tool to automate the process. And more than just automate it, they extend and enhance it !

theHive and sbaeder are correct, I have about zero knowledge in comparison to these guys on WindowsPE, i'm familiar with the BIOS and all that, but nothing like what these guys do, however as a programmer I know there's lots of tools that are built to simply automate a process and make things easier on the end user. You can do practically anything almost, manually, just that automated processes, through some programs make it faster, and easier, especially on the less knowledgeable computer users.

That's the whole aim of programming in some ways... Making things easier, faster, more efficient, more accurate, etc...

With multiPE version 59, Win8PE is fully integrated into the project.

Win8PE is still in development.
When it has booted, hit F5 to get into the desktop.

I hope that some members will help to add full functioning explorer, taskbar etc.

I have an issue building this project. im tying to build with win8pe.. I cant seem to get the imageindexex script setup right. its prob something simple. error imagex fails error 2.. error variable definition loop (%wimindexinstall%=%wimindexboot%)

I just updated with the error I'm receiving

That happens (sorry, right now I did not realize, why) in some faulty startup, caused by an ??? user action. That is independent from Vista, Win7, Win8 source.

Edit script.project with an external editor and remove all lines in the [Variables] section behind "%APISUBDEF%= ???"
Then go to te end of script project, and delete ghost sections [variables.???]

BTW: After Imagex error 2 it is wise to reboot.

I am trying to build a win8pe and when I do I keep getting the same error of " Variable definition loop: [%WimIndexInstall%=%WimIndexInstall%] " I have search google and really haven't found anything that could help me. any idea would be welcomed.

This sometimes happens when a build is interrupted at the wrong place.

You can fix it manually:

Open script.project for edit.

In the section [variables] delete the part of the section behind : "%APISUBDEF%= <something>"

Then scroll to the end of script.project and delete any [variables] and [variables.?] section.

? may be 1, 2, 4, or 8
