I have my primary hard disk partitioned into two partitions. The first is the original and has Vista x86. The second is newer and has Vista x64. It's a dual boot setup created by the Vista x64 installer. In Vista x64, the x86 disk appears as drive D and I can't change that. I suppose it's because it has the BCD file?

Anyhoo, I would like to get rid of the x86 partition. I suppose I could just delete it and run a repair from the install DVD and trust that to find the x64 partition. Or is there some better method I should use?

Open cmd.exe as administrator.

xcopy D:\Boot C:\Boot\ /e /h /c

bcdedit /export C:\Boot\BCD

bcdedit /store C:\Boot\BCD /set {bootmgr} device partition=C:

Open Disk Management. Mark C: partition as active.
