Hi all please can someone give me a step by step guide of making a Boot disc so as i can clean my hard drive and put fresh back onto my laptop. I have the original Windows code on the sticker on the bottom of the laptop and blank DVD+RW's.

I presume that BATHSPRAY was meaning something along the lines of "can I create a Windows (which version?) install disk from files already on my laptop hd?"

If that is the question, it could be possible, it depends on which files you have on your laptop.

Hmm..

Look on the initial black & white text that appears when you power on the computer.

If it says something like "Press x key to restore the operative system" or something similar to this text and then it might be possible to use this feature to reinstall windows without need of creating a Bootable DVD. (beware that it wipes all your documents in the process if you don't save them somewhere else)

Many manufacturers add this option nowadays. Of course that the displayed text or key to press is different for each brand.

I have now managed to get through most of the process - i am just awaiting for applications to reinstall.

Hi the Gateway laptop is better now ive done that.

Ive decided to do the mrs' laptop too.

Its an ACER ASPIRE 9301AWSMI also running Vista. I've tried the ALT & F10 keys but nothing is happening.

Can anyone please help with this one.
