• Download WinBuilder and unzip into a directory, where the drive has 4 or more GB free space.
• Start WinBuilder.exe by doubleclick.
• In the GUI type "auto" (w/o the quotes) and click / hit "return" / "execute"

You will have a bootable PE ISO after 30 minutes.

Depending on your internet bandwidth may be it takes remarkably more time to download the Win7 source CD, but that's only once ...

 

Next build will be finished in about 2 minutes.

Yes, you are on the right place.

 

Your download just hit the middle of some experiments, I'm making with a new version.

 

Strange is your version "2913.08.09". I'm rather sure that I never used this version. So the download may be corrupt.

 

Please download http://winbuilder.ex..._2013.08.09.zip

Unpack it into the actual WinBuilder directory and in WinBuilder type "BUILD" <return>

Thank you for your quick reply.

I downloaded and used the file you provided.  I also used winbuilder_jc_latest.

 

I first used "auto" command to download the Win7 files (my system runs x64 version).  Here results:

The build worked.  Again, used AUTO command.  Is my understanding correct that only Win7-x32 sources can be used?

 

In any case, I then tried to use Microsoft "Win7 USB-DVD tool" to create a bootablle USB and received error that ISO is not valid. 

However, I still burned a CD with the ISO and it booted.  PEnetwork mgr failed "No network cards were detected"; but I assume this is driver missing.

The Win7PE project is offered as a "simple starter".

 

Therefore it is restricted to Win7 x86 SP1.

Sorry, I do not know this tool. Therefore no idea.

The tool expect a special UDF spec intepretation, not commonly used. Avoid this restricted tool.

Thank you for the explanation and link.  As an FYI, I have tried several non-Microsoft tools to make a bootable USB from the WinBuilder output ISO; but they all failed: SARDU, YUMI, Rufus, Passcape ISO Burner, ISOtoUSB, including the "isoavdpcopy" utility mentioned in your link.

Downloading win7pe should be done in several seconds, usually below a minute.

 

Last time there have been some troubles with the reboot.pro server.

 

Usually downloading win7pe should not be an issue.

 

Try again the "auto" command. Do not worry, because you already have the source CD, it will not be re-downloaded. Winbuilder will just start with "download win7pe".

BTW the good guys had been warned long before that the idea of hard-coding a server address and/or downloading automagically things or more generally not providing a "simple", "local", "self-contained" approach was a complication that might have caused issues, before or later, just for the record:

There is also alternative projects which doesn't use "Winbuilder" at all. I would recommend checking "Make_PE3" tool by Wimb.
