If you remember, back in 2011 we saw Fabrice Bellard launching a virtual machine that would boot Linux from a normal browser: http://bellard.org/jslinux/

 

Recently was launched a similar project, albeit already having some graphical support: http://copy.sh/v24/

 

Apparently FreeDOS seems to boot nicely from the test site.
