wow.. a small, yet powerful web server under 100 USD.

We could use it as redundant server for boot land!

A NAS with two bottlenecks?

http://www.globalsca...s.aspx#features

ETHERNET+USB 2.0 Speed?

I guess that a picoITX:

with SATA2 and Gigabit Ethernet is needed, or, maybe better , boards designed for NAS:
http://www.via.com.t...herboard_id=610

The thingie looks interesting , though IMHO not suited for a NAS.

If they added to it a network over mains interface, something like this:

I guess it could be a very nice thing for less speed demanding chores.

Nice toy, but not really usable without a HDD, which would need to be external and raise the power consumption to levels above a traditional NAS.

edit: Oops cross posting.

What would stop us from using a USB pendisk instead of HDD to save on power consumption?

Of course one might say that flash drives (especially the really cheap ones) are quick to die under heavy usage but then again, won't 512Mb be enough to run a OS solely from RAM along with the website and use the flash disk for the initial boot load?

Not much use as NAS but at least it seems a fairly decent web server.

Just some thoughts.
