Here's the .reg file to fix Folder Rename in Windows 10: http://pastebin.com/BGhggeM0

It restores the entire FolderDescriptions as Microsoft released them

The .reg doesn't merge some entries due to access problems but still fixes the Renaming issue.

thanks alot !!!!

Just to keep everything as together as possible, on github, besides this:

https://github.com/1...acking/releases

there is also this:

https://github.com/W...loat-Windows-10

(possibly some ideas/approaches in them can be of use)

Having spent the last few days removing the things in Windows 10 and disable  WU, Defender, One Drive, Cortana, Diagtrack, Scheduler Tasks, Edge, IE, WMP, Wi-Fi Sense, Metro Apps, Telemetry services, and what I have left at PC is a slightly more secure:

Script updated to v0.8.92:

-Added another command in section "Remove OneDrive".

-Added comments regarding the usage of "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies..." (read note below).

Important:

Whenever you see "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies..." in the script, we are changing something that can basically be changed directly through GPEDIT.MSC.
Please note that changes in the registry alone do not reflect back to GPEDIT.MSC.
For example, when we add the registry value "DisableFileSyncNGSC" and set it to "1", we're basically telling Windows to Enable the setting "Prevent the usage of OneDrive for file storage".
However, if you open GPEDIT.MSC > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components -> OneDrive, you'll see that the setting is still "Not Configured".
That's because GPEDIT.MSC updates both the registry and POL files (located inside C:\Windows\System32\GroupPolicy), yet the script only updates the registry.

So if possible, it's better to do it directly through the GPEDIT.MSC interface.

NetworkPro,

Yep,

I actually did that in the beginning, but later removed the POL files I attached because I made a few more changes in GPEDIT.

I've attached the updated POL files to the 1st post, so ahead and grab them :good: .

I am pretty sure you cold have found better examples if the critic was aimed to privacy issues, it is not like Unity had not its largish share of the same critics.

If you're running the en-US version of Win10, and wish to fix the folder create/rename issue, please apply the attached REG file.

It will revert all FolderDescription keys to their default.

No need to restart, the effect is immediate.

I haven't found which one of those caused the issue (yet), but it's a quick fix.

Please note that what NetworkPro posted on PasteBin is not for en-US, it is for another language.

So if you're running the en-US version, apply my REG file.

REG file to fix folder creation/rename for Win10 en_US: Alternate download link (MEGA).

Script updated to v1.0 (finally):

- Removed: 31 FolderDescriptions (x64) keys; 29 FolderDescriptions (x86) keys.
One (or more) of those caused inability to rename/create folders in Explorer.
Most of them re-appeared anyway after a going through a Windows Update or SFC /ScanNow.

- Added: command to enable dark theme on XAML (Modern UI) apps. Credit: mysteriously (MDL forum)
- Added: command for adding 8 more accent colors. Credit: mysteriously (MDL forum)

Only premium ‘Windows 10 Enterprise’ users can veto updates indefinitely. I'm not that case. I have 'Windows 10 Pro' .

Tweaking all other versions of Windows 10 that are not LSTB is waste of time.

Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB - is Mother of all Windows  :buehehe:

Script updated to v1.2:

- Added "Reboot to Recovery" to right-click menu of "This PC".

Credit for this elegant solution goes to Sliden from MDL forums (I further refined it, though).

Your line for Wifi Sense Disable does not work

*** Disable WiFi Sense(shares your WiFi networklogin with other people) ***
reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\PolicyManager\default\WiFi\AllowAutoConnectToWiFiSenseHotspots" /v "value" /t /d 0 /f

Needs to be
reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\PolicyManager\default\WiFi\AllowAutoConnectToWiFiSenseHotspots" /v "value" /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

Also I am very appreciative of your script and it has been very helpful to me - not to be a critic but PDF might not be the best format for storing all these commands - copy/pasting out of the PDF adds line breaks and spaces, etc where they may not be needed.  TXT or DOC/DOCX might be better.
