Hi all i'm in a confusion can you guys please tell me the answers for my confusion ![:confused1:](http://reboot.pro/public/style_emoticons/default/confused1.gif)
Actually my confusion is "What is a Home directory? and what is a user profile?"
they have the same content like Documents, Pictures, Videos, Music, appdata, Ntuser.dat etc... and why are they called with different names
I tried googling around and gathered some info and i'm confused

does anyone explain? ![:confused1:](http://reboot.pro/public/style_emoticons/default/confused1.gif)
In a windows server environment the user profile is where your registry (ntuser.dat), temporary files, app data, etc are stored
most of the time the home directory is the same path, but it can be set to something different via group policy.
For example many net admins will set the users "home" directory to be a shared drive on the server so the users documents will be backed up. The user always has a user profile on the local machine but the folders like "my documents" are redirected to the "home" folder
in PE or a standalone/home/non-domain environment the terms are interchangeable.
