Sorry for asking a stupid question, but what's the essense of the method discussed here?

Is it about making a Win7 install backup, and then restoring it to a different HD from a backup DVD? Or its about copying that DVD image onto a new HD? This part is missing some clarity.

I assume generalizing is a part "post-backup" process? Why don't make some diagram for clarity? What's the essense of WIM file and method? Don't give links pls.

See line three of the first post, it says "In this guide you can make a bootable recovery DVD without the need of any expensive backup software. " You can also copy the ISO to USB. I also have made changes on the title to make it clear. Thanks for the comment, mate.

It is a good tutor but it is similar to ghost because:

1. It gives me fatal error on another computer ( it not a problem of drivers. i not install any driver manually. i create fresh install on another hard disk installing only software like ms office & Some player)
2. After copying 100% files of windows in setup in first restart it give error "windows not shutdown properly"
3. As u say it not reset any setting.
4. Always fail manually activated windows activation.

Regards
Sachin

It is not similar to Ghost because it is Hardware Independent Recovery (HIR). Google it and you would understand it well.

2. After copying 100% files of windows in setup in first restart it give error "windows not shutdown properly"

When you start Windows after recovering, Yes, you will get "windows didn't shutdown properly" message. Then just select on "start Windows Normally" and everything works fine.
4. Always fail manually activated windows activation.
I didn't get what you want to say couldn't activate manually. What error message do you get?

I don't think problem 1 and 3 is related to the guide on the first post. If so, please explain further.

See "Important Note" of the guide.

Yes, that is true because what you are installing is a backup. If you are installing the backup on the original PC (from where the backup is made from), you don't need to install any new driver or check performance, etc. If you install the backup on another PC, it tries to install all or most drivers automatically. Then if you go and check Windows Experience Index, you will be asked to refresh the test as there is hardware change.

Hi Bushan, this never happened to me. What I recommend you is, to first update Windows Media Player if it is not the latest version. If it is the latest version, try it with the older version of media player.

I think my media player is already updated, I am using Win 7 sp1 but this problem is not upto media player.

if i change setting in security centre or in audio devices like microphone and stereo mix. the setting revert back after reboot.

:(

Sorry for the late replay. What do you use to capture the Windows image? Is it gimagex (windows software) or imagex (Windows PE)?

Ok I see, Bushan :dubbio: . Try ImageX.exe integrated in Windows PE. To create an Windows 7 PE ISO with ImageX.exe, follow this guide

http://serverlog.wor...ncludes-imagex/

And to capture the windows OS partition use this guide.
