I Read all the instruction for making a Mindows install of Windows 98,Unfortunately i don't have a Windows 95 CD so i am having problems with it....

Instructions for Installing Mindows

   1. Download min98.zip

   2. Unzip min98.zip to a folder e.g. c:\min98

   3. Copy c:\min98\*.* to your Windows setup directory e.g. c:\win98 , overwriting any files in that directory, if already present.

[b] 4. From a win95 installation or CD, copy into that same setup directory the following files:

		  * explorer.exe

		  * comdlg32.dll

		  * shell32.dll

		  * notepad.exe

[/b] Note : The 95 files should be from an early version of Windows 95 that does NOT have the dreaded Internet Explorer "integrated" into the OS.

   5. For the time being at least, copy the entire setup directory to a clean hard disk.

   6. With only the clean hard disk in your system, boot from a floppy, and navigate to the setup directory.

   7. Execute install.bat

Sit back and watch Mindows install.

Can any one plz upload these 4 files...If it is legally not applicable plz sent me a PM....

I will be really very thankfull to him....

You have a RATHER QUEER concept of legality.

An action is illegal IN THE SAME EXACT MANNER whether it is done publicly or privately.

NO WAREZ, NO FILE SHARING of Copyright protected material on this board.

(last character in the above sentence is a "full stop" or "period")

Please do re-read Rules:

And consider yourself warned.

Perhaps a safer question would be: "Can anyone point me to freely distributed updates that contain these files?"

I'm sure there are some websites that have 95 patches or older IE versions with some of these files.

Besides Microsoft http://www.microsoft...ads/Default.asp I'd check those .DLL download sites like http://www.dll-files.com/ Just make sure you get the Windows 95 version of your .DLL of course :confused1:

You may also need Uniextract to get the files from the 95 updates http://legroom.net/software/uniextract

Unfortunately I do not know which exact updates have the specific files you need.. hopefully this'll get ya started :confused1:

I guess he's looking for the files that came with the original Win95, without any a, b or c.
So, i don't think, one can find those in any updates.
But the dll sites seem like a good idea.

Every one knows that Microsoft Stop providing supports for Windows9x Operating systems....
They don't care about what people are doing with thier operating systems....
If a person [Admin] on this forum talked about legal issues then he should think about what is WAREZ...?
* explorer.exe [Version 4.00.950]
* comdlg32.dll [Version 4.00.950]
* shell32.dll [Version 4.00.950]
* notepad.exe [Version 4.00.950]

As you already admitted that Microsoft freely distributed many of those Hotfixes which contains most of the lateast versions of the dll files can't be consider as Warez.

I am the member of other forums where they are providing all the Latest versions of Microsoft Windows hotfixes[DLL files,Exe files etc]as a Post-Update Pack and I am dam confident they are not breaking Microsoft Licence....

btw,Do you guys doing the right thing to modify Microsoft Windows ?

I think you want to do some more research on Google. Try the keyword "Abandonware."

I think the Windows 95 license just cares about you using your purchased license key with the original PC it came with. You may also have "downgrade" rights on some newer version of Windows.

I am not a lawyer so you may need to do some research into what your Microsoft license allows.

I'm not trying to be unhelpful but I never had Windows 95 so I don't have any files to give.

We do not modify Windows in any other way than you do, when you install a program or a driver.
Therefore it's absolutely legal.

khan,
let's not start a discussion about "but you did this or this other thing and it's the same", besides being extremely childish, you are failing to see the main point about software licenses.

If you do not hold a proper license for a software you cannot legally use it, even if the files are publicly available.

Of course you are perfectly free to break the law and eventually pay the consequences of your actions, or it is possible that this law does not apply in the country you live in, but I am in the position to do everything in my power to make the board be exempt from possible legal threats or actions by anyone, and I will enforce the rules as they are written.

More generally, and outside of the rules of the board, I personally consider rather unpolite that a new member joins a board and, as soon as he is told that he cannot have what he wants, in open violation of set rules, he starts polemizing about the way the board itself is managed.

Don't take my words the wrong way, you are welcome to the board and we are all happy when a new member joins as it can be an occasion for an exchange of ideas, knowledge and information, but if you like the place, do comply with the rules. If you don't like them, just leave, there are other places.
