At TLF there is a nice interesting mention to "Windows 7 god mode": http://tech.reboot.p...ead.php?tid=611

A nice trick to get a full pane view of all tasks in the control panel when double clicking on a folder that you create with a specific name.

Or if you wish to try it out from the explorer bar without need for a folder, try out:
shell:::{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

Take care!
:)

Nuno,
I've known about this "GodMode" for a long time. It's not really new, and most techies already know about it.
Here's a complete list of all the canonical names and GUIDs you can use:

I've only discovered thanks to the post on TLF, perhaps it helps more folks out there to know that this type of feature is available.

Thanks for the extra list!
:cheers:

I'm a bit confused.
From Nunos inital post, i thought this were some hidden feutures.
But from ericgl post above, it seems, that it's just an alternate way to call certain control panels.

:confused1: Which is it?

:cheers:

It is both. (and - sorry to say so - it is not at all "news" :ph34r:)

Basically it is an "almost normal" feature that someone "discovered" and had the idea of calling it "God mode" (indeed a marketing genius :worship:).
The news - at the time (more than two years ago) soon spread though, apart from the name, there is nothing particularly "god" and not even "good" about it.
Some of the early articles/notes about it:
http://msbin.com/how...ows-7-god-mode/
http://stadt-bremerh...dows-7-godmode/
http://www.petri.co....ws-god-mode.htm

Every other week some "wannabegeek" re-discovers this feature and posts about it in a blog or in a forum, and the thingy goes on and on ..... :frusty:

This is a more "reasonable" explanation/definition:
http://blogs.technet...-shortcuts.aspx
and this is the "official" version:
http://news.cnet.com...odes-exclusive/
http://howto.cnet.co...ows-7s-godmode/

A marketing genius and/or an old Quake game cheater :rolleyes:

After running this
shell:::{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C} :good:

drag the blueboard icon (near All Tasks) to the desktop to create the Mother of All Shorcuts, I think it is better than create a folder.

Some people like to keep shortcuts to these GodMode shell locations as well, I knwo some of them in particular that I find a bit useful. I had not known about GodMode until someone had posted it on a forum too, but it was an interesting find for me from what I remember :)

Good thread

That just tries to find the location via default web browser, you can type "http://website.com" in the explorer addressbar and get the same effect.
