Hello everyone!

I am happy to announce to announce that we now have our own download portal at http://reboot.pro/files/

Key features:
- Easy access for visitors to see app scripts and other tools available
- Counts number of downloads
- Ranks submitted files according to popularity
- Creates a topic automatically on the downloads section
- Support multi-versions. You can update the topic with a new version and old versions are stored as reference

Last but not least, the downloads portal also provides support for visitors to buy files. Each person submitting a file can specify a price in USD and the payment is processed by Paypal. Whenever a file submitter reaches an account value of at least 30 USD, then a payout can be requested and transferred to the file submitter's Paypal account.

Should be noted that members on the categories of Developers, .script Developers and Tutorial writers can download all files from the portal even if they are not free. This allows our community of developers to help improving the work of each other.

I hope you enjoy these new features.

Nuno, you will need to change Rules.
Right now those "features" are contrasting with Rules #4 and #11.

Glad you like it. Forgot saying that all the files that you make available on the portal will also appear on your profile so that people can find your tools more easily. If it gets popular, it is automatically displayed on the front page of the portal.

You already make your tutorials available online, now it is possible to place a properly formatted PDF version that is sold at (for example) 2 USD a copy. Readers wishing to support your work can get the PDF version while the tutorials remains available online. This is the model followed by editors like 37signals: http://gettingreal.37signals.com/

Free to read online, available as PDF/book for a fee.

Just an idea.

Yes, good point. We should change the rules to reflect the differences.

Yes, good point. We should change the rules to reflect the differences.

Remember to change also the one about Warez (Rule #1) :whistling:

BTW: The objection by Medevil has some merits:

can we have a p0rn section? :dubbio:

I hope Rule #12 will be kept UNmodified.

just notice you can't upload .script files. they must be .ziped. is this intentional? from what I can tell there is no size advantage in zipping a .script as they don't compress much and only adds an extra (adj. see annoying) step for the developer and the end user.

I agree with you. Having just the .script file would indeed be better. Also noted that detail when trying to make available winbuilder.exe instead of a zip file.

One of my goals for the future is integrating app scripts on the portal with winbuilder, keeping everything inside a script would be simpler to manage.

Let me check how this can be solved.

cool.
another thing I noticed is that strange number next to the script title....after a bit I realized that it is the version number, but its a bit confusing as it looks to be part of the script name. could it be changed to be in parenthesis or or a different style/size/color?
Ex.

Wireshark (v12)
Wireshark Version 12

I suppose it could also be moved completely over to the file info box on the right.
It might also be helpful to make the "support topic" button stand out a bit more (ex.. change to red) to make it easier for users to find.

Ok, now I know where the accepted mime types are managed. Added .exe and .script as accepted.

Would you please reupload your scripts using the default .script extension? Should now be working as intended.

Perhaps one needs to write this down for other .script developers to keep in mind.

------------

As for versions, they are used in a different context.

The little fonts that you mention are referring to the version of your script.

To include the version of a program (like malwarebytes 9) then it should be added on the title name. This is necessary so that people can track each new version of your script even if the program itself is still the same.

I'm getting an error when trying to upload .script
Error No file was selected for upload

I think one of us is misunderstanding the comment about version. What I am proposing is to make the version stand out from the script title so it doesn't look like part of the title. as of now the version number is indistinguishable from the script title which will lead to confusion.
Wireshark 12 leads the user to believe that the script is for Wireshark version 12 when in fact WIreshark is at version 1.6.1 and the script is at version 12
