I am using TFTP32 (version 3.23) to boot our computers so we can ghost them using Ghost 8. This will be used to ghost multiple machines at once. The setup hands out an IP address and boot image file to boot the computer. The autoexec.bat file boots the computer directly in to ghost. From there, I select 'Ghostcast' -> 'Multicast', which from there initiates the network adapter and asks for another IP address. Now, on the first computer that I boot, the DHCP server hands out an address almost instantly. The next couple of computers fail to get an address the first time. Once the ghost application fails to get an address from the DHCP server, it aborts the process and exits the application. I then go back in to ghost and go through the exact same process. This time it works. Then this fail/success process is repeated for every other computer from there on. Now...If I wait about a minute after I receive an address on one computer to 'ask' for another address on another computer, it seems to work. So, is there a setting somewhere that can speed up the application so it can hand out addresses more frequently. Has anyone heard of this happening?

Please help.

Thank you.

I am unable to get IP addresses from the tftpd running on a Vista computer when I boot a computer with a ghost CD. When the tftpd program is running on a XP computer it works fine.

I am using TFTPD32 V3.03 in conjunction with WDS. I am experiencing the same issues mentioned by “Hotwired34” My DHCP pool is set to 50. After two or more PC’s receive IP addresses, additional requests for an IP appear to time out.
The TFTPD32 log reads “Rcvd DHCP Discover Msg for IP.....etc” -
Then “DHCP: proposed address....etc” –
Then Rcvd DHCP Rqst Msg for IP ....etc” -
Then “Previously Allocated address acked...”
Then “Rcvd DHCP Decline Msg for IP ... [This is where it puzzles me]
Then – “item destroyed”.

This is repeated indefinitely.

This is happening after a successful PXE boot and delivery of the WinPE boot image.
After WinPE boots, it is making an additional DHCP request which appears to fail.

This would appear to be identical to Hotwired34’s issue as this is taking place after the initial PXE and image delivery.

This process success is diminished with the increase of nodes receiving IP addresses, but nothing close to the size of Pool being served.
