so, are you maybe saying that the persistence (meaning also saving data/info in the same bootable media, as made in Linux) can never be obtained, just in principle, within a PE ?
Clearly, another point is if this feature can be or not useful or suitable.....but who knows ?
Yes, I'm saying it's not a good idea to save
all changes in a PE (modified system files, installed programs, updates etc.) the way you do in a full OS. The core PE (portable OS) needs to be unchanged at next boot for stability and dependability. However, adding portable apps (even with file associations, context menus, registry changes etc.) does
not counter this principal because if the portables are removed (easy to do) everything is back,
exactly as it was before adding the portables.
Whether the Linux type persistence is possible is a separate question, it probably is and if I had the knowledge I'd be happy to share it. I don't know how and I'm just not that motivated to research it right now for reasons mentioned. I'm not saying I wouldn't
allow it, of course not; it would be cool to have the option, options are always good.
