I have created this thread following a post here

@sambul61
You made the following comment following a post of mine -

I always look at who posted the comment. And found your account having only 3 posts (all in this thread), but referring to distant forum past. So consider it an exception that I even replied to a fake account........... If you're looking to gain popularity, the best way is try create your own content useful for others.

Please bear in mind that comments of this nature may put off new members. Had I not known the forum prior to my post I would be ceasing involvement.

Please define what you mean by the term fake account? I may only have a lowly three posts, but everyone has to start somewhere! I have long been a silent observer of reboot.pro but have never felt the need to create a reboot account. Until relatively recently anyone could access this great resource (the forum) to view posts without restrictions. After some time out I returned to find myself locked out after viewing too many posts! This alone was enough reason to create an account. In addition I also wanted to be involved in the Windows 8 Consumer Preview discussion. For the record, I have no interest in popularity or a flaming war/p!ssing contest. My participation have been made in the spirit of this request -

We need your help!

Participate: You don't need to be an expert, write your opinions and learn

Patrician: Improve the community work conditions: http://reboot.pro/store/

Contribute: Write a quick tutorial, share your software and ideas, help other folks: http://reboot.pro/tutorials/

I too can check other people's accounts. Please bear in mind that you are an Advanced User. I would argue that this position comes with responsibilities due to a perception that you speak with authority. Consequently your actions and comments reflect not just on you, but on the board.

This is not the warm and friendly welcome to the community I was hoping for and is not in the true spirit of what boot-land/reboot is about.

Your actions and comments are likely to be perceived to carry far more weight than mine, due to my status. This does not necessarily mean that I have nothing worthwhile to say or contribute.

Regards,

Misty

Don't worry, more people complained about Sambul's writings in the past and this seems to be a recurring event. This was already a cause for demotion from tutorial writer to advanced member. At this pace it seems that temporary suspension of the member in question will be necessary to prevent further conflicts.

There are of course many personalities and different people around here, as far as I'm concerned you are very welcome to participate in our community.
:cheers:

@Nuno
Thank you for taking the time out to respond. This is a great forum/community by the way - thanks for your generousity in creating it and continuing efforts to keep it going.

Whilst I have no intention of letting sambul61's comments stopping me from participating I felt that it was necessary to point out how comments of this nature might be interpreted by others not as familiar with reboot as myself.

Whilst many of my friends are addicted to social networking sites I confess to being addicted to boot-land/reboot. I've lost track of the countless hours I've spent following instructions, chasing links (usually posted by linkmaster jaclaz/wonky) and experimenting.

I look forward to spending more time here.
