@extremewl

Your Settings should work for booting with Grub4dos your Expandable 3.9 GB from RAMDISK and using SVBus driver.

Try again ....

But I will apreciate a lot if you can include WOF_Compress_x86.au3 in the WOF_Compress download as you used to do, (I can make the WOF_Compress_x86.exe in AutoIt and add it to my AV exclusion list).

Done  :)

Download: WOF_Compress-42

The System Info Panel can be changed only by changing the Program code.
So if we agree some item must be added or removed then this can be achieved easily by me, but not by the user ....

So, my next proposals are advancedsystemproperties and/or the main window that would normally appear by clicking "system" in the control panel.

Sure that one is too much hidden since Windows 11

I will add that option and also Advanced Settings to switch on/off Network Adapter .....

attaboy wimb!!!! do u think this facility of urs (System Info Panel) will open new vhd reduction breakthrus, ones which would result from further and wider brute-force deletions, for instance?

btw, I checked the updates of all of ur software and ... judging from the omnipresent system info panel, I can really say that u have killed ... 2 and a half birds with one stone!!!

In any case the System Info Panel makes it easier to analyse the Windows System.

I think that further reduction of Mini 10/11 x64 Windows to get UsedSize far below 2 GB is Not so useful,

since for sure you will miss too much functionality.

The present reduction as achieved by Win_Reduce_Trusted is about optimal I think.

too much functionality even in the light of what u have already added or will add in the system info panel? if we cover almost all functional apps in here, what will we need the windows settings panel for?

as for my comic remark at the outset, I don't think I have made myself understood, in that by 2 and a half I meant that u have at least 3 info panels (1 in vhd_wimboot, 1 in win_reduce and 1 in sv_bus_inst) but the only one that is fully "updated" is the first of the 3.

IMHO, I think System_Info program is a very good tool, and perhaps it is better to update its panel and use it alone (on x86 and x64 OSs or PEs) as a separate tool when required.

It seems to me this way there is only one program that require to update the panel, as really I don't see the need to have the same extra panel on every one of the programs.

You are using WIMBOOT mode and has a USB-Stick, which is rather slow as compared to Portable USB SSD.

In case of WIMBOOT the very fast RAMDISK with VHD must get the real file data from the WIM file on the slow USB-Stick. That might fail.

What you can do is use faster USB device e.g. Samsung T5 Portable SSD.

And you can use first Win_Reduce_Trusted and after that Capture and Apply in Compact LZX mode

so that the Windows UsedSize is about 2 GB and fits in the 3.9 GB Expandable VHD.

The Compact LZX VHD in RAMDISK does Not need any data from USB and that might help.

@ wimb

Thanks my friend.

As I always make very little adjusments to some of the the File_Lists for Win_Reduce to fit better my preferences keeping certain additional files. I usually check their dates first to see if there has being any update/change on them, and I noticed the remove_sub_DriverStore.txt dated 2021-10-12 from the v4.6 (now discontinued) had a little different content than the same file on current v4.5

I really don't know if this info may be useful for you or not, but just in case I'm going to quote here the remove_sub_DriverStore.txt dated 2021-10-12 from the v4.6:

; Adjust to your needs - Only rules with leading backslash and trailing * are used - Wildcards like * and ? are Not allowed inside Folder Names
;
\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nv_dispi.inf_amd64_*
\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\helloface.inf_amd64_*
\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\igdlh64.inf_amd64_*
; \Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\3ware.inf_amd64_*
;

You will decide which one is the good one.

Thanks, indeed that file remove_sub_DriverStore.txt I have lost from version 4.6

The modification serves to get rid of of the huge Intel Graphics driver folder.

Do you know what I can add as line to remove the AMD ATI Graphics Driver folder ? Then I will Add it to the list as well.

In the Reduced Windows we prefer to use Microsoft Basic Display driver instead of NVIDIA, Intel or AMD Graphics Driver folder, which saves a lot of space.

What else modifications do you make in Win_Reduce_Trusted files ?

For Mini 10 / 11 Microsoft Basic Display Driver is good enough. NVIDIA I use in my Full 10/11 x64 OS.

For Mini the Size is what matters and NVIDIA and Intel Graphics Driver folders are very large ....

Does anybody know what is the foldername for AMD Graphics Driver folder ?

4- What else modifications do you make in Win_Reduce_Trusted files ?

1 - No problem, it is my pleasure if it was helpful. I thought it was very possible you didn't keep it, it has happened to me many times.

2 - Good, it is also a good addition.

3 - Yes, I'm aware of that, and in fact since I create my very first VHD for a future Mini-XXX.vhd, I use only Microsoft Basic Display driver, as you recommended long time ago, since the Mini-XP.vhd (don't remember the name you used for it).

4 - Nothing really for general use, usually things related to the MUI lang files, as the 10 es_MX requires es-ES and also es_MX files, and I prefer to add manually the respective lines on keep_SysWOW64.txt (even if I know you take care of this), just in case, as it requires very little work from my part.

For now I was working in a new updated version of Clean_All.bat, to be used when Filedisk booting from a flat Win10XPE_x64.vhd with the intention to get rid of all *.log and *.etl files (not the same as when booting from a Mini-OS.vhd) created every boot, acumulating about 30+ MB each boot, but taking care to not damage any critical files that may affect the bootability of the VHD.  I will share it latter because it is located into another PC, not in this one.

EDIT: For more info about Clean_All.bat, please see this post.

since I do not make any difference between mini and maxi, I try using everything I need for daily use in the miniest possible, I would like to know whether the loss of using basic driver vs nvidia driver is enormous or slight. I use my smallest vhd for everything, it is my regular system, and believe it or not it is the best solution even for those who have a lotta space on the drive or in ram. the only doubt I have is whether playing with basic driver or keep the nvidia driver.

as for amd, if i am not mistaken, it is in file repository inside \windows\system32\driverstore, and it is the largest folder of those starting with "amd". I think it is the bulkiest.

Clean_All.bat and download, from this post:

Spoiler

It is neccessary to make clear Clean_All.bat is intended to be used only when we boot as Filedisk from a Win10XPE_x64 flat (uncompressed, Compact or Wimboot mode) installed on a VHD.

This file is not the same and DO NOT replace the file \Win_Reduce_Trusted\Win_reduce\Add_to_UserPath\Documents\Utilities\Clean_All-Full.cmd wich is intended to be used into our Mini-XXX.vhd, and is offered as an option in the program Win_Reduce_Trusted made by wimb.

So both files are not interchangeable by design.

Update System_Info-45

Download:  System_Info  from GitHub

File is Encrypted with password = bootwimb

- System_Info List files are created in folder sys_info

- Hard Link List files are created in folder Hard_Link_List
