In my English-sourced native-Ex build, parts of the interface have garbled text:

To fix it without delving into localization innards, we can de-UPX-ing the executable and open it up with a Delphi-aware resource editor such as XN from Colin Wilson, and change all instances of the Font.Charset field with "RUSSIAN_CHARSET" to "ANSI_CHARSET" to make it look more natural:

and here's the result:

A very useful program indeed. Kudos to Mr. Kazanskij for making it free.

Excellent!

Thanks for sharing the tip.

Why not sending an email to the author so that the official version can have this detail corrected?

Strange, modded as shown or not, garbled in PE but works fine in Windows; what am I missing?

OK, got it figured out; modding the exe actually has no effect (none that I can tell). Modded or un-modded, text will be readable if there is Russian text support and garbled if no support. This is true in Windows as well as PE and independent of each other (obviously); so what I think occurred was an easy mis-read of the evidence. You must have inadvertently enabled/installed Russian lang support while in the process of modding the exe and seeing the improved readability assumed it was due to the mod (easy to do). What I don't understand is how this helped in PE, it wouldn't; so you must have had Russian support in PE already? Did you test in PE? Regardless, you really helped figure out a mystery here and as a result, this great little prog is working well now in PE! Thanks again for pointing to the issue and giving clues to its source, leading to a fix. The author of the script should note that Russian Lang support is required for script to work in PE. This is all based on EN source, no idea how this plays out with non-EN lang source, others will have to test.

edit: You also need to enable 'Essential Fonts' under Basic ->Tweaks for additional (minor) text issues to be resolved with this prog in pe B)

Similar issue with Japanese Font
as explained by cdob:
Pcsview.exe resource --- object MainForm: TMainForm --- Font.Charset=SHIFTJIS_CHARSET solved here with using
CopyOrExpand,"%SourceDir%\i386\c_932.nls","%TargetDir%\I386\system32"

hive_load,HKLM

reg_add,0x1,"%reg%\ControlSet001\Control\Nls\CodePage","932","c_932.nls"

hive_unload
after a long search B)

As in this pcsview.exe topic (post 2), i enabled my manuel script (Russian Font support disabled) and font working fine again

Maybe a similar solution can be found for this Russian case too ??

In addition to that, current script needs %systemdrive% writeable to install driver.

In addition to that, current script needs %systemdrive% writeable to install driver.

no font issues in VistaPE, perhaps it includes the proper files.
in addition to needing write access to %systemdrive% victoria also needs to write to the .ini file and the LOG directory in %programFolder% no worries as long as you have FBWF.

ahh, this was suppose to be included. I must have left it out when I made the .7z thanks for posting!
*edit - now I remember, I left it out because the file was to large to post with the manual included.
