Hello....I'm pretty tired - i tried everything, any tutorial, any program, but I can't seem to boot Windows XP from my Patriot USB Stick....please help - here's my idea....has anyone, but ANYONE managed to boot windows xp from an usb stick?

If yes, here's the deal: my e-mail is xxxxxxxxxx@yahoo.com - what I'm asking is ---> whoever achieved this to make me an image with the dd program in linux of the USB Stick, and to give it to me so I could put it on my stick - i believe this is the safest way.....my USB Stick has 2GB memory, so if anyone cares, dares to HELP me please make a dd .bak image and send it to me....or else:

PLEASE HELP ME TO DO IT ON MY USB STICK!!
I would rather preffer the dd way because school starts and I won't have that much time to try again....PLEASE HELP!

Thanx in advance!

Nobody can give you a Windows XP image to put it on your USB stick, because Microsoft does see it as stealing. If you wanted to put linux on the USB stick, people could help you because, everybody is allowed to distribute it for free.

Hi Zozel,

First a very welcome in our community.

Now to your question:

Sorry that I cannot help immediatelly!

If you try to put a complete XP onto your USB stick, nobody here really can help you.

If you try to bring a WB project onto your stick, maybe we can help you. But then some more information is necessary.

We have different projects, the user can build most projects from different sources, etc.

So we need some more information. Usually after building a project, you can look into the log of the build. And you can publish the log here if there are some troubles.

Because USB is something which also depends on the HW of your PC, it can help a lot trying your project in an emulator like qEmu, before you go to write it to an USB stick.

Does your project run in qEmu?

Try that first, and get the log.html: After building the project, click the 'log' tab and click 'save as log.html'. This generates 'log.html' in the directory where WinBuilder.exe resides.

Zip this file and publish here if necessary.

OMG....I don't think you understood what I asked for...I was suggesting to make a .bak image of your USB Stick (2GB, Bootable XP on it) with the dd tool found in linux....after that contact me here, otherwise e-mail or Messenger - if anyone made the image I would like him to post here this kind of message:
"Hello Zozel....I have the .bak image on my computer - my e-mail adress is ...@... .Let's talk there, or on messenger"
That way someone could send me the .bak image to put it on my 2gb patriot usb stick

Thank you for your answer, maybe you could help me further!

So...here's how you could do what I asked earlier, if you're not familiar with dd:

Let's say you have a 2gb usb stick from which you can boot up a full XP....so you have it...here's what you have to do next
1) Plugin you're xp bootable memory stick on a linux machine (I use FEDORA - you can take FEDORA live - from http://download.fedo...oject.org/pub/f ... 6-Live.iso - burn it on a cd)
2) once you have seen the USB Stick's mount point (example: /dev/sda1) open System Tools->Terminal
3) type in terminal "dd if=you_stick's_mount_point of=path_to_save_bak_image"

If you have done those, you should find a .bak file, in you're selected path_to_save_bak_image....
Reply, if you managed to do the 3 steps, or e-mail me or add me in your Messenger list to transfer me the .bak file (xxxxxxxxxx@yahoo.com)

Thanks a lot in advance! Please help

Two points:
1) we are perfectly familiar with dd, and possibly every other program known to mankind, even with those you wouldn't even suspect were existing
2) we WON'T re-distribute, in ANY form, files, such as the XP system ones, whose redistribution is forbidden

Now, FORGET about having what you asked.

READ, this time attentively, the Rules:
http://www.boot-land...?act=boardrules

I simply don't believe you:

Hello....I'm pretty tired - i tried everything, any tutorial, any program, but I can't seem to boot Windows XP from my Patriot USB Stick....please help - here's my idea....has anyone, but ANYONE managed to boot windows xp from an usb stick?

Particularly, I do not believe you tried "everything", if you did so, you did it somehow incorrectly.

Thousands of people can boot XP from a USB device, one way or another.

If you need help for doing so, you are very welcome , if you expect that anyone does your homework and by doing so also infringes Rules of the board and common Laws, you've come to the wrong place ;).

I still haven't understand what are you looking for. Please try in better english (unfortunatelly or not it is the lingua franka) and be clear and spesific . Do you want the boot-loader of any xp based bootable usb stick (size about some kilobites) ? or a huge enormous illegal-for-distribution image of a whole partition containing a xp installation ?
