I have Updated IMG_XP_85.exe package with new version of IMG_XP_Update.exe

Download - IMG_XP_85 - mirror

Thanks for the update...

Strange since App is running fine here and shows the normal GUI dialog where you can select VHD Image file.
You can use it just as the original IMG_XP_Update.exe
It seems to me that the download is not OK
Try again using different download environment.

In my hurry to download your app, I didn't check the data host's check box (I downloaded their faulty downloader earlier) :P

Your app starts fine [edit] and works perfect.

Once again, thanks for the effort.

I have created with imagex a windows XP syspreped wim file, which boots into mini-setup and goes from there, which has correct HAL, massstorage driver, tested working installing directly to the harddrive.

I would like to apply this wim file to VHD created by VHD_XP_CREATE, so I can boot from grub4dos, without having to install from the Windows XP ISO + the wim file has all my software installed already, so will be faster etc

I prepared a 7.0GB VHD file using VHD_XP_CREATE

Mounted as m: using imdisk

I applied the wim file using imagex - imagex.exe /apply "c:\wim\winxp.wim" 1 m:

under PE I would then use - bootsect.exe" /nt52 m: /force - but this fails (not sure what to do about this), and am not sure if this is neccesary from grub4dos anyway

From this point I need to inject the driver firadisk or winvblock and create the grub4dos menu

I used USB_XP_FIX to update c:\vhd

I used VHD_XP_CREATE to install grub4dos back onto the harddisk

Select the vhd file to boot, however it doesnt seem to boot to mini setup and it gets the stop 7xb error

Should I be looking at the massstorage driver, modifying ntdetect.com (eg Dietmar's ntdetect) or is USB_XP_FIX doing something?

Has anyone tried this approach before? I would like to get it working as booting XP from a syspreped VHD would be handy

please help link for Download - IMG_XP  not corect another link please

The section Downloads>Tools of this forum contains the files VHD_XP_Setup, VHD_XP_Compact, VHD_W7_Compact, VHD_W8_Compact and Win_Restore.

http://reboot.pro/fi...sort_order=desc

The section Downloads>Boot tools of this forum contains the files UEFI_MULTI and UFD_Format.

http://reboot.pro/fi...sort_order=desc

The IMG_XP package is in fact the sum of these Downloads.

Please use above download links, since I cannot repair the original download link for IMG_XP.

Hi wimb,

Sorry, I aware that you are more active in reboot.pro. So I repeat my reply here as a copy of 911cd.

I have seen your reply to majid55 and I can get almost all blocked files. The problem is I am not sure if everything needed are there.

So, except the largest one "IMG_XP_85.exe", there is only one file "U_XP_SET_26.exe" cannot be downloaded. I am not sure if that's enough cause I don't know what is in the missing "U_XP_SET_26.exe".

Thanks.

U_XP_SET belongs to Install from USB AFTER Booting with PE
http://www.911cd.net...showtopic=21883

http://www.msfn.org/...ooting-with-pe/

U_XP_SET is not part of IMG_XP package
U_XP_SET is an old approach and not used anymore.
Instead use WinNTSetup http://www.msfn.org/...386-387-beta-4/
