Well, the "history" inside the file seems like telling a different story:

History018=ied206 - Supporting Flat Boot from USB 3.0 in Intel Haswell Chipsets
History019=cdob - rework Intel USB 3.0, removed embedded wdfldr at VIA and Fresco driver, dism dosn't include this part anyway
History019=cdob - Intel USB 3.0 Switch driver added, combined mode adjusted
History020=cdob - Intel USB 3.0 Switch driver added, combined mode Series 8 drivers at Series 7 hardware
History021=cdob - Intel USB 3.0 Version 3.0.0.19 Driver for Intel NUC - testing

Hence I believe it to be worth a try.

The post above mine, with v20, clearly shows it's gone back to the old way of doing it, where you have to choose between the two Intel drivers.

There had been some testing in the meantime, hence the v21.

BIOS settings are importand too.
At auto mode the port is connected to a USB 2 controller at boot.
And the switch driver switches the port to a USB 3 controller later.

I've no luck mixing 7 Series and 8 Series drivers.
But the 8 Series driver works at 7 Series hardware too.
The 8 series *.inf file was adjusted: 7 Series HardwareID added.
Of course this is without manufacturer support: will work or fail at specific driver version and harware revision.

Thanks. I did see that thread; the way I'm reading it it seems like what had been tried so far hadn't worked, though the last post was in April -- hence my asking for an update. But it does seem like the option is still in the menu, so while an update from someone else who's tried it would still be handy, I'll take a crack at downloading the script, seeing what it's doing and replicating it in my custom Win7 build to see if I have any luck. Thank you.

Oh, that is VERY useful! I didn't think to just try the 7 series HWID's to 8's .inf files. I just assumed it would fail since it used different chipsets. I'll definitely try that. Thank you!

The old v21 script dosn't support 9 Series chipset.
Can you try 9 Series hardware?

At second glance: I don't add 7 HardwareId to a 8 *.inf file.
Instead a 7 series iusb3xhc.inf is renamed to iusb7xhc.inf and uses 8 series *.sys files.

Hello,

 

first, sorry for my english. i can't speak or write english very well.

 

I build a new PC and now my Win7PESE won't work with the new USB 3.0 Chipset. I'm using the new  "USB 3.0 Support" Version 20 in Winbuilder.

 

When i boot over USB 3.0 it crashes with a Bluescreen (i don't remember the Error code).

When i boot over the DVD-Drive, it starts correctly, but i haven't USB-Ports.. A big fault because i have a usb-keyboard and mouse...

 

 

My Mainboard is Asus Maximus VII Hero with an Intel Z97 Express Chipset and 8 GB Ram, Windows 7 Professional 64bit is installed.

Im using Winbuilder 82 and build a Windows 7 32bit bootable Image to have more compatibility to other Systems...

 

Can anyone help me to solve this problem?

I'm using the new  "USB 3.0 Support" Version 20

The old driver dosn't support 9 Series hardware.

When i boot over the DVD-Drive, it starts correctly, but i haven't USB-Ports.. A big fault because i have a usb-keyboard and mouse...

Do you use the black or the blue USB ports?

i have 6 USB 3.0(4 on the backside) Ports and 7 USB 2.0 Ports(2 on the backside), both on the same Chip Z97, no extra USB 2 or 3 Chip.

My Keyboard is in one USB 2.0 Port and in the other 2.0 port is a 9-port-hub with my mouse and other usb 2 devices.

 

My UEFI Settings are:

Legacy USB Support: enabled (for my keyboard and mouse)

Intel xHCI Mode: Smart Auto (USB 3.0 supported during POST an operating systems)

EHCI Hand-Off:disabled (supports ehci by ehci Drivers for operating Systems with ehci Support, enabled means Support ehci by bios for operating Systems wothout ehci Support)

And full initialisation for all usb devices...

 

Now i'm using your USB 3.0 Support v22 in winbuilder with Intel combined Auto(test) with or without native USB boot. i'm using the Driver package installer with the latest driverpacks (x86,unzipped, without vista-driver) lan, chipset and massstorage)

 

the results are:

 

USB 3.0 booting without native usb boot: Bluescreen error 7b

USB 3.0 booting with native usb boot: Bluescreen with 7e in pcw.sys

 

DVD booting, it's booting complet with Keyboard and mouse, juhu . i haven't testing other things...

Try to add as less as possible: lan only

Do you use AHCI or RAID configuration?

USB 3.0 booting without native usb boot: Bluescreen error 7b

Do you use RAM load, \sources\boot.wim?
 

USB 3.0 booting with native usb boot: Bluescreen with 7e in pcw.sys

Broken diver or a timing error (CPU too fast).
 

When you need help, i can test your script on my maschine...

Try basic USB 3.0 driver: without the switch driver:
Set xHCI Mode Enabled at BIOS. And choose Intel 8x Enabled at script.

I'm using my win7pe se to repair other peoples computer in private, not commercial use (i'm unemployed).

so i need the Drivers to have access to other peoples Hardware...

and my build model is normal, not ram load. so win7pe runs on Computers with 512 MB Ram  and my DVD is 1,5 GB big

 

Im using Antivir  and Spyware search, Reading smart-data, scan and defrag or clone harddisks. it runs perfect except on my Computer. but my Computer is only one month old...

 

Error 7e in pcw.exe: ihave an 8 core cpu (4 Cpus with hyperthreading) Intel i7 4790K.

 

Broken Driver... i think yes because USB booting has Errors with or without native usb booting.

only DVD boot works and after booting runs usb...

 

xhci enabled, ok i'm testing it...

Always a pleasure if suggestions are recejted
No idea which driverpacks you added. This may conflict any other driver addings.
In general windows installation media supports chipset level. Without chipset support, you can't install windows.
There is no need to add a chipset driver to boot a PE. 
Intel chipset driver packages disables USB 3 speed. There may be funny results at PE if you add USB 3 drivers in addition.

As for repair I prefer OS default drivers: msahci.sys supports AHCI mode.

Neither MS nor Intel supports USB disk booting at Win7, expect troubles.

Nothing you would install windows 7.
What about two different win7pe? One DVD flat file version for old hardware. And another USB boot RAM load version?

I assume a driver conflict, remember neither OS manufacturer nor hardware manufacturer supports the requested flat file boot.

At a 0x7b a different driver load order may work.

Intel switch driver was not loaded at normal mode.
This enables USB 3.0 speed. At BIOS auto mode should work nontheless.
No idea if this can cause a BSOD 7e. Good luck.

I got the error found by chance ... and your help....

 

I tested your new script... it runs perfect on DVD but usb-booting fails with bluescreen and error 7e... the same as above...

 

You've mentioned that the CPU might be too fast and I checked in UEFI what you could switch in adversity ..

I turned off 3 of the 4 CPU cores and it ran ... I turned off 2 of the 4 CPU cores and it ran ...

 

Then I had no desire to try more... But it ran...

 

I think the CPUs are too fast with USB 3.0 because the slow DVD it runs well ...

 

Oh... Intel Virtualization Technology is not apparent. I had it enabled or disabled. The error was the same ...

Oh, I bet that'll work even better.

 

Adding the HardwareId's from 7 series to the 8 series *.inf worked fine; I've been testing it for the last week or so and both kinds of systems seem pretty stable.  But of course, the 7 systems end up with the 8 version numbers.  Renaming the *.inf in 7 and including it will probably allow for the 7 version numbers to be used, which is probably better for any following upgrades, and it also allows for the different registry settings in 7.  (The only difference I could see in the reg entries is that 7 forces Selective Suspend off; I bet that's for good reason!)

I'm confused:
do you use a PE or full windows?
At a PE I ignore version numbers and upgrades.
At a full windows I would not combine driver packages.

What's the current configuration? What happens if you enable all 4 CPU cores again?

Asus offers a older USB 3.0 driver V3.0.0.16 too.
Do you like to try this one? You never know the result witout testing.

In these cases, the number of cpus is probably matter and whether additional drivers are loaded.

im using it to copy it to a compact flash Card and run it from a card reader or a compact flash to sata adapter...

runs great... and it's booting in my lovely "normal" build model...

boot as hd with 30 seconds (compact Flash with 633x Speed) on my System like DVD

it's a third alternate methode to boot...

First different USB drivers are loaded. And initialized later at  boot. There is no way to control this fully.

Service start=0 and a proper group.

Do not ask the proper group, this hasn't been answered in the last nine years. Ignore theory and logic, expect the not expected.

Groups "Base", "Boot Bus Extender"and "System Bus Extender" had been used.

I have made some CompactFlash cards to have an emergency medium without always burn a new DVD. A USB stick was not so great ....

My configuration:

• a USB 3.0 Cardreader to Copy in USB3.0 Speed
• a Compact Flash to sata Card Called HX-1223
• Some Cable to connect it to esata
• 1 Compact Flash Mustang Flash 633x 16GB Interlagos
• 1 Compact Flash Transcend Compactflash UDMA 300x 2GB

Win7PESE

• build model: "In Ram"
• USB 3.0 Support v23 (i know, it works), Intel 8x enabled

my result:
