Writes to the reg. Made a request to the dev for a truely stealth portable version. He has responded favourably in the past (Homedale). Also made another request "Also, Spencer currently picks up shortcuts from the "Start Menu" folder. If the user provides a folder name in the command line ( e.g. Spencer "D:\Portable Programs" ) it could use that folder instead to pick up shortcuts. Would be useful, especially if the user has a lot of portable programs."

From the dev :

I added two new command line options http://thesz.diecru.eu/tmp/Spencer.zip

/p use portable mode [or if portable.dat is present]
/r <dir> root for menu items in case of portable mode

If spencer is running in portable mode, it will only add applications which contain "portable.exe" in the filename and folder which contain "portable". I'm not sure whether this is usefull or not. But otherwise the whole portable app folder structure is displayed.

Please let me know whether this is something like you wanted. Regarding the file/folder pattern to be included in the menu structure, please let me know if you have an idea!

Now I display all files. Please let me know if this is ok or whether I should change something..."

if portable.dat is present

Works! had a subfolder

Portable/spencer.exe

/portable.dat

/spencer.exe

/spencer.ini

/spencer.sql

It showed all root files on list and list of files of portable folder. Nice.

What about option to show only exe names within a portable folder without displaying the extension .exe

For example

Portable/Spencer - add-classic-windows-xp-start-menu.exe

would be shown as Spencer - add-classic-windows-xp-start-menu
