I had a problem with a cruzer Swith 8gig stick.
mein grosse problem occured when I tried to backup some files (:/).
The copying stopped.
A message appeared. (whatever)
I unplugged, replugged.
New Usb device, 68MB! :)
Also, it renamed.
Google.

I opened in Hxd, to view the drive. 00. Zephir!

Photorec and another recovery tool, nothing.

I left it. Came back today, :) the thing works. My files are still there, happily.
(The files are happy)
Conclusion, If you ever have a similar problem, just let the Usb rest, it will be gratefull and work again.

Usb's sticks live a life of their own,
They are perhaps the only free spirits left in this society,
They've ignored the the economic meltdown and many other things,
Their obstinacy is legendary as HP and Steve 6*** has found out, if the strick, bios or O'S does'nt screw it for you the stick will .
Sadly their reign won't be forever someone will will tame them but meanwhile lets sleep easy in our beds

This helps sometimes

From here

Also but rarely a complete shutdown, power off, when testing.

Aber alles,
Zu viel Arbeit
