These are the full versions of Vimalin.

Vimalin for Fusion will work with VMware Fusion 7 up to VMware Fusion 13.0 (OS X 10.9 – macOS Sonoma)

Vimalin for Windows will work with VMware Workstation Pro 12.x up to VMware Workstation 17.0. Starting with Vimalin 2.5.481 we now also support VMware Workstation Player 16.x and higher (supported MS Windows –> all)

If you install Vimalin then it will automatically install a 60 days trial license on your behalf. With that trial license all features are available for 60 days.

After those 60 days you can still use the program to make on-demand backups of any of your VM’s and restore or delete any of the backups that you made previously.

 

 

 

There are differences between free and paid. Vimalin is available for free if needed, but you have access to more features when you buy a license.

You will always be able to make and restore backups with the free version.

You are welcome to use the free version, because if you have a good backup of your important VM’s, then an important part of our mission has already succeeded. It is important for me that VMware users of the desktop products VMware Fusion, VMware Workstation Professional and VMware Workstation Player can make good backups of their VM’s.

Of course we prefer that you buy a license. It was quite a bit of work to write this software and by buying a license you help me to be able to support ongoing development. The reason why Vimalin exists

It is problematic to make a good backup of a VMware virtual machine (VM) with a normal backup solution. Most backup programs are not virtual machine aware.
With such a program you cannot make a good backup while the Virtual Machine is running. This is because your virtual machine is still writing to the disk while you run the backup. As a result your backup is inconsistent and might even end up being corrupt.

After seeing problems with corrupted VM backups many times at the VMware community forum, I decided it was time to create a solution to prevent this. Vimalin was born.
