Maybe a comparison between bootice and xorldr features would be useful. Could they be merged into single tool/interface?

BOOTICE v0.73
http://bbs.wuyou.com...t.php?aid=64455

◆ 2010.1.20:
◎ 更新 Grub4Dos 至 0.4.5a 2010-1-8 版本;
◎ 更新 PLoP Boot Manager 为 5.0.7 2009-12-22 版本;
◎ 在修改 PBR 类型时先锁定该逻辑盘符再进行写入,以避免随后再在该分区进行文件操作时 PBR 被 XP 系统还原的问题。

:thumbsup:

and XORLDR
http://bbs.wuyou.com...t.php?aid=77459

※ 2010.1.20 更新:
◆ 进一步完善 NTFS 分区读取问题;
◆ 添加启动项后自动定位到新添加的系统,删除启动项后选中项自动前移;
◆ 预览窗口可用鼠标直接点击来直接选择启动项,方便选择;
◆ 另外,G2LDR 可用【NTLDR】启动类型来启动,而 g2ldr.mbr 可用【GRLDR】启动类型来启动,没有针对这个作专门的启动类型。

Hi Pauly,

with bootice v 0.76 I get this screen very often

Posted Image

Any way to suppress it, at least for automation with commanline?

BTW: Not important, but would it be possible to have an x64 bootice.exe?

:lol:

Hi Pauly and Thank you for this fantastic utility!

In last release (2010-05-12 v0.78) BOOTICE can install a boot sector in a .img/.ima file.
Could you please also support .iso files - at least for Grub4DOS?
I know how to do it using mkisofs, but it would be easier to do it directly using BOOTICE.

Thanks

Well after seeing the post "CreateRawIMG" by TheK, I remembered an old question that I wanted to ask here...

How come this utility doesn't allow us to format, resize, partition on IMG files? thought this must be easy given that its already able to do it on physical media :cheers:

edit: Will this app support VHD format in future?

> And another useful function is to backup or restore your MBR/PBR of your disk.
But when the extended partition is deleted, restoring the MBR or PBR did not help due to lost chain of EPBR.

It would be nice to have only one button to save everything for the selected hard disk: MBR, PBR and EPBR chain with automatic number of saved sectors depending of file system on the partition.

This utility is a gem!!!

I say THANKS to his creator!

I managed to write grub4dos to the mbr from Windows 7 64 bits and to the boot sector of a NTFS partition without error.

:unsure: :P :o :) :P :unsure: :D :P B) :D :D :D :D

This is the 100th post on this topic.

Tabs are very cool :thumbup: Pauly!

edit: Hey Pauly, a button is missing, "Add MBR" in your Disk Image tab :dubbio: i guess Olof Lagerkvist is doing it but its also cool here on your app, just wondering who will come out with it FIRST ;)

edit2 I was testing around, created IMG file from IMDisk (without MBR, thanks to wonko) then tried to open that unformated IMG via this app, saw Process MBR button active got excited :ph34r: Next, backed up my physical disk's MBR and restored it on Image AND it SHOWS MBR... further testing...

edit3: Nope :thumbup: after formatting, lost MBR again hehe

EDIT4: I've a USB stick formatted by Disk Utility on OSX. 3 Partitions, (first FAT32) (second HFS+ Chameleon Bootloader) (Third HFS+ OSX setup restored from CD to USB by DiskUtility). On windows, i've macDrive installed which mounts HFS+ volumes automatically however, never mounted partitions of this USB stick so, I clicked your "Assign Drive Letter" button (which worked till the point where my computer shows both driver letters) but it shows icon with "?". Upon a click, it says "Refers to location that is unavailable". Soo... further testing around :thumbup:
