@All

As you already saw, Nuno integrated many parts of nativeEx into LiveXP.

Please help to make it ready for ALL (or most) international sources.
I'm collecting here how the build boots into qEmu
Tests already done are:
(Source CD; language; tester; result)

XP SP2; English; psc; ok
XP SP2; German; psc; ok
XP SP2; Dutch; psc; ok
XP SP2; French; psc; ok
XP SP2; Greek; smiley; ok
XP SP2; Portuguese (Brazilian); psc; ok
XP SP2; Italian; psc; boots but system nearly unusable
XP SP2; Spanish; psc; BDSE when booting
XP SP2; Turkish; scankurban; BDSE when booting
W2003 SP1; English; psc; ok
W2003 SP1; German; psc; ok

Please add more results.

To start with identical conditions, please do:
  • Create a new folder with spaces in the path or name
  • Copy/unzip the latest WinBuilder beta WinBuilder.exe and WinBuilder.ini into it (Current URL)
  • Delete the comlete LiveXP folder contents, let remain the folder itself
  • Download the LiveXp test project from here
  • Unzip it into the LiveXP folder
  • Run WinBuilder choosing LiveXP as project
  • Adjust the Path tab to your source CD or folder
  • Do not change anything else for this check!
  • Run the build
  • Report the result here
Please allow me that I may add your result to this post and then delete your post.

Peter

Seems that my Portuguese Windows XP SP2 (PT) is giving issues:
desktop.JPG

Icons are created, but it seems that the folder is not properly configurated on the registry - reason of adding that workaround on createISO..

Here's my log:
Attached File  log.html   1.95MB   396 downloads

I got it, thanks.

Bill G. did a great job to create really different folder names in Brazilian and Iberian Portuguese!

I'll try to find out whether localized strings are hidden in some other files besides shell32.dll

Maybe that this may also clean the current issues with Spanish and Italian.

I'm in doubt whether besides Brazilian and Iberian Portuguese an 'US Portuguese' exists.

Here the proof:

The most difficult is to find the reason!
It is much more easy to react!

This isn't strange. In the greek normal version of windows(not PE ) it looks like this:

Maybe Bill G. has missed something or there is a serious reason for that.

Yous program seems to work very well. :P

You did not (see first post)

  • Download the LiveXp test project from here

Your log shows ToggleKeyboard version 1 instead of 2

What tool/files do you recommend for finding where the string migth be located inside my win source?

This was the reason why I've added the workaround on createISO - otherwise no icons on my desktop.. :P

I have already an idea. I write a 'ProfilesDirectory' from shell32.dll texts into the registry. But this entry is already from hivesft.inf. AND Different.

Please give me two days. Currently I'm rebuilding my complete system from formatted disk. It is already two years old, slow and crazy.

Welcome to Boot Land!

Can you try disabling folders with tweaks, applications and drivers like this:
BSOD_liveXP1.PNG

And then build your project again? - this will create a minimum bootable disk wich should be compatible with most Windows Sources.

Just to check if the issue is located on the build scripts or inside one of the customization scripts..

If it doesn't work, would you please upload you log.html file for us to debug it?

Thanks! :P

edit: forgot to mention that you should also disable the autoUPX script, because it might be compressing some file that doesn't support this sort of compression - it's found on the Finish folder.

If there are some troubles, I first take away 'aggressive UPX'
Second step: remove UPX at all.

If the troubles depend on UPX I write that in the summary.

I think I might have posted in the wrong section.. here's the results again. Log files to come later :P

Not sure if these results are a "problem" but here they are:

Building LiveXP in Winbuilder 67

From Win 2000 SP4:
OEM Xp Pro SP2 [Eng] - Boots in QEMU
VLK XP Pro SP2 [Eng] - Boots in QEMU
OEM Vista Basic [Eng] - HoJoPE errors. Path errors. No Boot.
Retail XP Pro SP2 [Jap] - The entry "ntkrnlmp.exe" in the.. error
Dell XP Home SP1 [Eng] - The entry "ntkrnlmp.exe" in the.. error
Dell XP Home SP1a [Eng] - The entry "ntkrnlmp.exe" in the.. error
Action Pack 2k3 Web Ed. [Eng] - The entry "ntkrnlmp.exe" in the.. error
VLK 2k3 Enterprise [Eng] - The entry "ntkrnlmp.exe" in the.. error

Please note that some of these sources are not supported. I just tried them for the sake of the Great Pumpkin.

And I repeat my reply here to be complete:

@Nuno: can you please move the this post and my reply to 'LiveXP intl test' ?

Vista: I never tried with Vista, I do not even have it. Maybe somebody knows where and how to get a free version for tests...
@Moon Goon: can you post a .log?

The "ntkrnlmp.exe" issue looks interesting. All sources are OEM. Maybe there is something different which I did not consider in HoJoPE.

Again: How to get one of these CD's (for me no jap, of course)

Good news!

Nuno now can build an Portuguese LiveXP with one 'documents and settings' folder! :P

What happened:
Bill G. did not decide for an unique translation of this folder name.
Therefore he used good Portuguese in shell32.dll, but in hivesft.inf he preferred the English version.
That confused my buildModel a little bit.

Solution: A new buildModel
buildmodel.jpg

which results in
portuguese.gif

You can download the new buildModel.Script here.

Before using the new script, please delete an old buildModel.exe in your project's temp directory (if there is one).
