can someone give me a reminder on how i can boot install XP from USB HDD? i forgot. i am using the

winnt32 /makelocalsource /noreboot method

i did the command as above the copy the folders $WIN_NT$.~BT & $WIN_NT$.~LS to my USB HDD then
add GRUB4DOS in the HDD
then i think the parts i am missing out are, what do i have to put in the menu.lst and i need to rename some files right? NTLDR to SETUPLDR or something like that...
i am using XP SP3 now and i seem to get a $LDR$ file too, whats that?

Go back to square #1

There is a brand new sub-forum at MSFN and new releases of the files by Wimb, the procedure is fully automated and works for both HD's and sticks:
http://www.msfn.org/...P-USB-f157.html

...or read the actions performed by the various batch files and re-do them one by one by hand :D

Dracula, take it easy, man :).

Do read Board Rules:
http://www.boot-land...?act=boardrules
with a particular attention to point #12.

You are of course very welcome to express your opinion about anything, AS LONG as it substantiated by either:
- an alternative, BETTER way/tutorial/howto/link
- technical facts, reports or similar documentation
- description of a repeatable test
- description of the reasoning that led you to the one-line conclusion

2) i've seen few forums on booting the USB on non supported BIOS. My question would be is there a way to make the USB HDD bootable when there is no BOOT from USB HDD option? is there any related threads to this? since the one i saw on 911cd is not what i wanted to search on.
Hi iceangel89, additional information maybe useful

Non support bios is not a problem under many OS linux distros.
You can boot the linux OS over cd or floppydisk, like wakepup etc.
