I have several machines connected to a kvm switch running vistape. The problem is that the keyboard and mouse do not work through the kvm. The kvm switch is a trendnet usb. The keyboard and mouse will work if plugged in directly. With the kvm connected I dont see any extra unkown devices in device manager. I usually dont need a driver for the switch on other systems but vistape doesnt like it. I have a LiveXP disc that does work with the kvm. Is there any extra driver that vistape might be missing?

What version and source etc did you use?

In my case Vista SP1 or Win2008 had problems with USBl. Vista Sp0 worked fine (but only if I abort the hardware detection at start up, because that disabled CD drives for example.)

Cheers,
Dave

Based on my own experience to date with VistaPE v12 RC1, there seems to be almost no consistency in its hardware detection processes, even when using Vista SP0 as the source. In fact, I find that the results when loading a VistaPE build from a USB flash drive are often different from exactly the same build loaded from a CD/DVD disc.

Sometimes I'm able to use my cordless keyboard and sometimes my cordless mouse, but seldom both. And sometimes one or the other will be detected and functional at the beginning, but then seems to get "removed" during subsequent parts of the hardware detection process.

I've more or less given up on version 12 for the time being. Since each one of my three hard drives and my USB flash drive is independently bootable with its own OS (XP, 2003, Vista, or grub) anyhow, I'm not terribly worried about any additional PE "rescue disc" protection. :)
