Hi,

I've tried to install Windows 7/8 on my server and found the install gave the error shown ""We couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one. " when using the ISOstick.

The guide below does not resolve the issue.. I'm going to assume the ISOstick secondary mass media device is making the installer freak out. It installed first time/without problems using a burnt disk.

When I 'list disks', the ISO is shown as disk1 with my original boot drive as disk 0.

Could you consider giving me an option on the disable the usb drive for the next boot?

Based on the article you linked it does sound like the flash drive of the isostick is at fault. I have been tied up with production stuff, but I will try to get this feature into some beta firmware and get it out this week. It'll be added as an option in ISO Manager, or you can edit a text file to enable/disable it. Per this post, when you enable flash-only mode, read-only mode actually just makes the flash drive disappear, and read/write mode shows it.
Sorry for delays, and thanks for pointing this out!

I know this thread is a bit stale, but I had an issue like this while installing Win7 x64 SP1 from an isostick on a netbook. The problem ended up being, oddly enough, having to set the HDD as the default boot device. It seems the Windows installer relies on that for some reason.

I am still working on adding this feature, just have been busy with production and such, but it's on the way!  :good:

I am actively working on optical-drive-only mode which should fix this, you can track the progress here: https://trello.com/b/FBQfKqk3

I'm really hoping you can get around to this sooner than later.. I haven't been able to use it much due to this bug.

Some good progress is finally being made, but as usual I have a bad habit of not posting status updates. Sorry it's taking so long, and thanks for reminding me that I need to keep everybody informed on this issue.

I have posted a status update in the comments here: https://trello.com/c...level-usb-stack
