Last week, I forgot my windows 8 password and locked out of PC without password reset disk and another admin account. This post can not help me. At first I didn't know how to reset lost Windows 8 password until my friend recommended me Windows Password Recovery Tool. It is really helpful.

Good post! But the question is most of Windows 8 users may forgot Windows 8 password and locked out of PC. Even have no password reset disk and another admin account? How to reset Windows 8 password? Obviously, they need third-party software. I have ever use Windows Password Key 8.0, it only took me 3 minutes to reset lost win 8 password. Unbelievable? Just have a try!

These are "Paid For" Tools if you really cant get this to work try sala's password recovery, you can add it into WIN7PE_SE

Or you could try cracking the password using Cain&Able, best of all thy are Free!

A few days ago I forgot my Windows 8 password and after doing many search on google, I found this trick with luck but I was stuck become I don't have another Windows 8 PC to create a system recovery disk. I have to purchase a paid software called Password Recovery Bundle to remove my forgotten password. So my question is: Is it possible to reset a Windows 8 password without using any third-party software including a system recovery disc?

Just for the record, the above post is (yet another) SPAMming post.

For those that may want a "third party" completely free tool, the easiest is probably the newish PassPass:

http://reboot.pro/to...s-the-password/

Still experimental, but proved to work on a number of versions.

I found Some thing Same as PassPass its called Kon-boot

http://www.piotrbani...m/all/kon-boot/

It's a Paid-for app that can be booted from

Windows 8 EFI Bios is now supported in V2.2

I see a mac version is out too...

It can be Booted using grub4dos too

And in response to joey:

You can use your windows 8 Installation disk or any windows install disk(Win7,vista,even XP if you know what you are doing)

If you understand the commands just plug your HDD from your Windows 8 system into a Working PC

Then you can use the working systems GUI to do the modifications

But here is a video i made based on this tutorial's method:(if you need it)

Really? :w00t:
Remember to post this under "news" :whistling:
http://reboot.pro/in...?showtopic=8027

For the record, PassPass was written as a FREE (BOTH free as in free beer and free as in freedom) alternative to Kon-boot (Commercial - though an early Freeware version exists) or to Conboot (that is free, but - besides being half-@§§edly coded and NOT working even for 7 - let alone 8 - redistributes a number of non-redistributable files ).
Just like the latter, PassPass is to be considered a "real mode" version of WindowsGate (with updates for the x64 versions and for 8 - experimental).

About "joey", imagine that you are locked outside your windows 8 and have not available a Windows 8 DVD. :hyper:
What would you do? :dubbio::

  1. get here and, since you have not the Windows 8 DVD to follow the tutorial, ask for a free alternative to it FIRST THING
  2. get here and, since you have not the Windows 8 DVD to follow the tutorial, buy at a mere US$ 29.95 (i.e. twice the price of a Personal License for Kon-boot) a "random" tool, solve your problem with it, THEN come BACK here, post a link to the crappy tool you used and FINALLY ask for a free alternative to this tutorial

Please choose one ;).

A string that contains a space normally needs to be put inside double quotes.

No reasons why net user should behave differently, AFACR, see also:

First of all, congratz to Jamal for the very detailed tutorial.

Unfortunately, it hasn't worked for me and I can't tell why.

When I try to access cmd prompt from the "Advanced Options" menu, a screen shows up asking me to choose an account with administrator rights and type its password. Turns out mine is the only account in the laptop and I've forgotten its passwords, and here I am.

I can access my account with win8.1's alternate log in pin, but I need the password for a number of other things, so I must reset it somehow.

With my account logged in, I've tried to type Jamal's commands on an elevated cmd prompt (slide the mouse cursor to he bottom left and right click, then click on "Command Prompt (Admin)"), but my access was denied to the "del Utilman.exe" and "ren cmd.exe Utilman.exe" commands.

Anyone?

Thanks

There is nothing here but just resetting the logon password via command line sethc is the way to open it. Pal very simple gateway by microsoft to reset password because microsoft programmers forgot to add the line for asking the old password while resetting the password by command prompt but nice search by jamal. The main stuff is that microsoft did not recognise even after developing of Windows 7 OS for any queries mail me @ vv84209@gmail.com

After booting with Win8.1SE x64 or Win10PE x64, then one can use WinNTSetup_x64.exe to Reset Password of the selected Offline Windows User Account.

After booting from USB with WinPE then in WinNTSetup use upper left program menu and select Offline Windows.

Sure ....

Instead one can do:

- Download Media Creation Tool of Microsoft and create USB Flash Drive bootable with Win10 x64 Setup

https://www.microsof...nload/windows10

- After booting from USB with Win10 x64 Setup, then press Shift F10 to open cmd Window

- Then proceed with step 7 from original procedure
