Compiling on Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit works, but the compiled fbinst asserts:However there are no deb or rpm packages for Fbinst.So you have to compile it from the source to use it in Linux.
$ ./fbinst -h fbinst: /home/username/grub_util_scripts/src/fbinst/fbinst.c:3299: main: Assertion `sizeof (time_t) == 4' failed.
Compiling a 32-bit version at least doesn't assert (you need to install multilib on 64-bit first before you can compile 32-bit programs):
export CFLAGS=-m32 export CXXFLAGS=-m32 bash grubutil_compile
A compiled version is attached (like always, use at your own risk).

I was wondering about the output of fbinst -l
it is something like(this on my system)
(hd0): 976773168 (466g) (hd1): 7821312 (4g) * (hd2): 7821312 (4g) *
Does it correspond accordingly on LInux?
(hd0) ----> /dev/sda (hd1) ----> /dev/sdb (hd2) ----> /dev/sdc
