28th Sept 2013

I have solved most of my problems building Win7PE, but I have hit another small problem.

When I left the Configuration info System Locale, Format and Keyboard to the default 'ImportHostOS', all setings were left as US, although mu PC is set for the UK.

I set the Main Configuration System Locale, Format and Keyboard to UK English, and ran another build.

All localisation is now fine except that the 'Short Date' shows as YYYY-mm-dd instead of dd-mm-yyyy. The only country that uses yyyy-mm-dd appears to be Sweden.

Does anyone have a solution please?

In this forum there is only one project published, named "Win7PE".

This project does not handle localisation like you described above. It takes localisation from the source CD. There is no need to define countries anywhere.

When you downloaded your project "from the cloud", please use the correct name.

If it has the same name, please add the "third party clone" attribute.

Well, NO.  :frusty:

On this forum there has been for YEARS a project named Win7PE.

Developed largely by people that moved somewhere else.

You decided to make a new project, using a new builder and senselessly used the same name of the old project (besides the name of the old builder).

99.99% on the posts in this particular forum:

http://reboot.pro/forum/91-win7pe/

reboot.pro
→ Boot methods & tools
→ WinBuilder
→ Win7PE

are about the "old" Win7PE, built with the "old" Winbuilder.

Beside the foolishness of your naming ideas, you simply CANNOT ask a new user to know that WITHOUT ACTUALLY making any notice about it, that any post in the present forum is NOW intended only for the "new" Win7PE unless expressly STATED otherwise.

And IMNSHO you could do with some more friendly attitude, particularly when answering to posts by newish members.

@Nedwob

You cannot possibly know :) about the senseless wars that happened here :(, and to which it seems like an END cannot be made.

Simply put, pscEx (and Nuno) managed to alienate a few members who decided to (senselessly as well) open a brand new board.

Additionally the "new" Winbuilder is called "Winbuilder", just like the "old" Winbuilder, and the ONLY project available for it is called Win7PE, just like the "old" Win7PE (actually, more properly, the "old" project that you are building is probably  "Win7PE_SE")

Later Nuno managed to have also a fight with the actual developer/maintainer of the Win7PE_SE, and he also migrated to the "other" board.

Now, according to the word filters here, I cannot even post a link to that new board, nor name it, but I am specialized in working arouind this issue, so that you can click on the following link:

http://preview.tinyurl.com/ncwvoeg

or just google for a recipe for cookin' with codes in the oven with winbuilder, or go here:

http://www.msfn.org/...9758-win7pe-se/

and follow the links.

I sincerely hope that you will get there a more friendly attitude/assistance there than what pscEx managed to provide.

Is a lengthy explanation with (this time only 3 links) more helpful to the new user than to ask him, just to tell the "full" name of his project in question? :dubbio:

Maybe that more developers having the real project name can help.

OK - I am a newbie and not the world's best expert on this, but as far as I can see, nowhere does it say this forum is only for the new WinBuilder - anyway, why didn't you say this when I posed my original questions??

I am using Winbuilder 082 and it does have Configuration settings for Locale etc;

I have no idea what the following means -

This project does not handle localisation like you described above. It takes localisation from the source CD. There is no need to define countries anywhere.

When you downloaded your project "from the cloud", please use the correct name.

If it has the same name, please add the "third party clone" attribute.

unless you in some way mean the new version of Winbuilder, which I tried and gave up on - no information anywhere on its' use, and very unfriendly!! I did find a little help in one reply on the forum, but that was all.

I also have to say that many things seem to have change in the older Winbuilder with little publiicity - like the Common_API script being dropped, and the need to rewrite Registry code - it takes a lot of research online to pick up on things like this.

However, I realise that the contributors to the project are busy people, and I am grateful for their efforts.

So - is anyone able to help with my problem re Localisation please?

Some explains:

WinBuilder is a tool. You can say: It is an unintelligent batch processor, which only does, what he is told to do.

The development of the historic WinBuilder is closed with version 082.

The new WinBuilder generation is started with version 2013.09.01 (The version should always show the publishing date).

The "Batch Processor WinBuilder" can process several batches, the "projects".

There exist many different projects using XP, Vista, Win7 and / or Win8 source CDs as base for the build.

Using Win7 CDs there are several "historic WinBuilder" projects like Win7RescuePE, multiPE, Win7PE_SE, etc.

Using the "new Generation WinBuilder" there exists currently only one project, namely Win7PE.

Please excuse my sarcasm, when I said logically:

When you want to speak about the Win7PE_SE project, please use this name, not the name of the different project Win7PE.

Please excuse my sarcasm, when I said logically:

That would have been logical IF you had said that.

Only you did not.

And for all you know Nedwob could have well been attempting to build an "original" Win7PE, not a "Win7PE_SE" and not the new project for the new Winbuilder that was foolishly named the same as the old project.

@Nedwob

What I tried (as tactfully as I could) explaining you are these facts:

  • for a number of reasons the developer of the current Win7PE_SE project has moved from this board
  • consequently a number of expert users/contributors to that project have also if not moved, started being more active on the "other" board than here
  • the main developer of BOTH the "old" Winbuilder and of the "new" Winbuilder, which is Peter Schlang, which you have just met as pscEx, as well as the board owner Nuno Brito, for the same (or for different, anyway completely foolish) reasons decided to push the "new" Winbuilder and the "new" Win7PE project
  • in order to pursue this plan pscEx is doing anything in his power to make the Win7PE forum an uncomfortable place, especially for new users guilty in his view of not using his brand new project but preferring the good ol' one, particularly by replying to questions asked with unhelpful or unuseful comments

I have no idea on how to help you specifically with your issues, what I am telling you that if you want support/advice for Win7PE_SE (or for the "old" Win7PE) built with the "old" Winbuilder, it is more likely that you will find it on the "other" board.

Hi wonko and thanks for your explanations.

Maybe the new Java version of WB will be good eventually, but as a 'newbie' I couldn't make much sense of it, and I couldn't see any info on using it. Using a DOS Command window doesn't help.

I have now solved my localisation problem myself (I think). In the Shell, Explorer Shell, Additional Options setup is an option 'ISO Date-Time Format', which was checked. I unchecked this and the formatt now seems fine.
