Hello Group,

I have made a windows 8 boot disk, but I need to have system restore on it.

Is it available ?

If so where can I get it.

Thanks

Tony

Not at all "dumb" :) only EXTREMELY vague :w00t:, the amount of members with a working crystal ball or with ESP is surprisingly small, and a certain amount of clairvoyancy or mindreading is needed to understand:

a. What you did

b.How what you did did not met your expectations

c. What is your actual intended goal

This means  *nothing*:

I have made a windows 8 boot disk

, and as well this :

system restore on it

Thank you for calling this error on my part to my attention.

I’m sorry I was so vague in my post; I will try to be more descriptive in my future posts.

I used winbuilder 8 to make a windows 8 boot disk.

The boot disk works, it boots from the CD and I have a desk top and an explorer to explore the system c drive.

I would like this windows 8 boot disk to have on it the system restore program so I can restore the machine I just booted from the windows 8 boot disk, to an earlier date. I also would like the remote registry program on this windows 8 boot disk as well.

I hope this all makes sense

Thank You

Sure :), it is much better.

There is however still a missing point.

There is no "Winbuilder 8".

Winbuilder is a builder or a (GUI) command processor for scripts, in a previous incarnation it was called "batcher", it is simply something that runs a set of coomand grouped in a .script, and several .script form usually a "project".

There are (or can be) several projects that use Winbuilder as engine, from where you posted I believe you used the Win8PE project, which currently is being developed/supported by the Author on another forum, the most current one is called Win8PE SE (for Second Edition) and "lives" here:

http://tinyurl.com/o7vcsos

On this board a new version of Winbuilder (senselessly not differentiated in the name, sometimes unofficially callled Winbuilder 2013), incompatible with the previous Wibuilder .scripts (and more generally sintax) is under development, as well as a number of other projects making use of the "classic" Winbuilder or alternate builders/building method.

The remote registry program is not an issue at all, it is just a matter to adding the executable and the .dll, even manually, see:

http://tinyurl.com/q8ek53e

look for: How to add Application without creating Plugin ? (Direct Copy)

The System backup and restore may be more complex (if it is not already included in the current project ).

In a nutshell, the offline registry program is trivial to add, the System backup and restore (unless there is already a .script for it) will need some work, studying the Winbuider sintax to create a dedicated .script.

I believe :dubbio:, however, that the "backup and restore" tool is part of the "standard" in Windows 8 WinRE environment, maybe you could check this, and make a "dedicated" WinRE for only doing this kind of work. (search around for winre.wim, there should be a few howto's on how to use it).

Wonko,

Thank you very much.

Thanks for taking your time to explain this.

I will be working on this project.

Tony
