The Save System Info button is quite useful and will present the System Properties in a TXT File.

Hello alacran,

Thanks for testing and giving feedback.

System_Info is using for Drive Info the external program ListUsbDrives.exe

A newer version might solve your issues. :unsure: Download ListUsbDrives from site

System_Info is under construction and future versions will contain Windows and Office Product_Keys ....

Also Hardware Info such as Mobo, CPU and RAM Size will be included ....

My first wish was to have a program that gives Firmware (UEFI Or BIOS) and Partition Style (MBR Or GPT)

But while working on it, I think it can be handy to have a GUI program that gives the most important System parameters ....

@ wimb

Hello my friend, just to report my tests:

After downloading last version and replacing ListUsbDrives.exe:

      ====================== Storage Volumes ======================

         -------- Storage Volume on Disk 0 in Partition 2 -------
MountPoint        = C:\
Volume Label      = Win7x86
Volume Status     = mounted
Volume Size       = 53.6 GB  /  50 GiB  /  53,687,091,200 Bytes

Info is more complete on this version and let us understand better the units used on the report, to avoid confusion. ListUsbDrives V5.2.7.0 (Win32) is 298 KB and ListUsbDrives V1.7.8 (actual version on System_Info v1.1) is 52 KB.

Anyway the USB wireless adapter still loses internet connection and I have to disable and reenable it to make it work again.

So basically new ListUsbDrives V5.2.7.0 give us more clear info of drive sizes and some additional info, but losing internet connection on USB adapter after running it still persist, let's make clear it is not caused by wimb's program System_Info, it is caused by ListUsbDrives an additional program used to get more info.

A little suggestion:

Maybe you can use %windir%\system32\msinfo32.exe (also located on C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\MSInfo\msinfo32.exe) to colect required info, this do not cause issues with USB wireless adapter, info can be exported to a text file if required, please see following Drives Report and attached picture.

Drives Report as txt file

Spoiler

From wimb's previous post:

System_Info is under construction and future versions will contain Windows and Office Product_Keys ....

Also Hardware Info such as Mobo, CPU and RAM Size will be included ....

I like your idea, all programs available for collecting this info as Aida64, Hardware Info etc., are getting too heavy and a light alternative is welcome.

Also Hardware Info such as Mobo, CPU and RAM Size is available on msinfo32.exe

Thanks for testing.

Good to know that different values for disk size can be explained by the unit that is used.

Coming version will have button for launching msinfo32,exe for MS System Information.

Also buttons for lauching Device Manager and Disk Manager will be added ....

Nice work.

In my none standard setup, my gpt disk is reported as MBR. LBA Sector 0 contains grub4dos code. As stated, this is not a standard setup, however is it possible to check for gpt info in sector 1? Or maybe even check for hybrid disks?

I will have a look and try to identify such non standard gpt disks

Since you have such non standard gpt disk available for testing,

it would be nice if you can copy the AutoIt code from makebt\au3 to root and then help to modify and improve the AutoIt code for this purpose.

Download AutoIt

Good, working fine.

Only comments are:

System_Info-2.0\makebt\listusbdrives folder needs to be depurated, there is listusbdrives.zip and its extracted content, (just a small omission).

Drive Info Button calls ListUsbDrives v1.7.8.0, when new v5.2.7.0 is available on previously mentioned folder, (maybe not developed yet).

@wimb
Please do not let the Developer label fool you - I do not have a clue what I'm doing! Whilst I would love to help as requested I do not have the knowledge or skills required.

I can however prep a VHD file with a hybrid MBR similar to that on my HDD if that is any use?

@Blackcrack

Thanks for testing and for your approval of System_Info program.

@alacran

Thanks for testing System_Info program.

The newer version of ListUsbDrives is very slow as compared to the older version.

So for reason of performance I decided to keep using the older version.

The zip file with the newer version can indeed be removed.

@misty

It can indeed be handy for testing if you can prepare a VHD file with a hybrid MBR similar to that on your HDD.

@wimb

Thanks for testing and for your approval of System_Info program.

you're welcome .

by the way, why do you use a extraprogramm anstatt einfach "services.msc" to use ?

is there a extra option who we can need ? Or is it quite the more uncluttered ?

best
Blacky

Serviwin is more complete and shows all services and also drivers, services.msc do not show all services and drivers running on your PC, as an example see Wofadk (Wofadk.sys installed by WinNTSetup) on serviwin, and it do not appear on services.msc

See attached picture.

VHD with hybrid mbr/gpt uploaded - HybridDisk.zip. The zip file contains a 4 GiB fixed type vhd file.

Disk modified using method described in the Grub4dos and GPT support topic (see posts #10 and #12)

Thanks for Uploading HybridDisk.

After mounting the HybridDisk.vhd it got drive letter M:

In the program code I changed C for M and then Run System_Info_x86.au3

$PartStyle = _GetDrivePartitionStyle("M")

Hybrid_VHD-2019-06-15_070215.png

System_Info identifies the HybridDisk.vhd to have Partition Style = GPT which is correct  :)

May be the problem is just the Drive Letter.

The program is using hardcoded drive letter C as the System Drive.

What was your drive letter for the HybridDisk HDD when using System_Info for testing ?

Download System_Info - Updated to version 2.1

- Added Task Manager and CPU-Z

- Partition Style (MBR Or GPT) given for System Drive and Program Drive instead of hardcoded C:

Since you added CPU-Z, you may also add GPU-Z too: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/

Downloading and will report back.

EDIT: Well, after downloading and decompressing it, I noticed CPU-Z is 6.73 MB, and GPU-Z may add 6.24 MB more, so better don't add it, this tool is getting fat very fast.

CPU-Z is quite useful for the Memory Info and that is why I think it is good to add this portable app.

Indeed System_Info must not grow too much, but the present functionality is just what is needed.

System_Info has everything handy available in one app.

System_Info program was copied to HybridDisk.vhd of misty mounted as drive M:

The HybridDisk.vhd is identified correct as having GPT Partition Style
