@All!

I need some test help.
I developed a tool which in a PE grabs local information like time zone and local settings (date format, currency symbol, number foormat etc.). from the local host. I'm working to grab also the keyboard.

Of course I cannot test it in Germany. I need help from around the world.

What to do:
  • Download http://nativeex.exec.../locale_test.7Z
  • Burn the contained multiPE_XP.iso and / or multiPE_Win7.iso to CD and boot from this CD.
The ISOs have German local settings and West European time zone.
Check the local settings and time.
  • Run "hostReg -L -ATTZ" and check the time
  • Run "hostReg -L -ATIS" and check the local settings
(In the PE1 intl.cpl is not installed, but you can see the date format when you hover the time display in the lower right)
  • Reboot to your host and check the time again. Is it correct?
BTW: In the %Temp% some logs are written, defined by "-L".

The -A switch:
A > action
T > transfer
TZ > time zone
IS > international settings

To grab the information from host, it must have at least one running window installation. Best is the same like the PE (x86 XP / Win7).

I was lucky I knew my way around, cause I can't read german.

There was no change in time, date, zone or locale.

Thanks for the test!

That happens, when %Temp% is not writable.
Then of course no changes are done.

I try to reproduce the issue here.

So, why did you make the %temp% not writable if that's what you need?

Theoretically it is writable. I'm trying to find why it is not in this special case (something open??? etc.)

Peter, I tried Win7PE_x86.ISO

My hard drive is made up ...
C: (NTFS / boot / WindowsXP)
D: (NTFS)
E: (NTFS)
My Windows
TimeZone: GMT -03:00 (Argentina)
Keyboard: Spanish Latin-American
Language: Spanish
-----

I don't understand the window that appears when the PE start asking me to enter a drive letter. I have written G: that was suggested by it window.

The command hostReg -L -ATTZ does not end...

Results
Spoiler

In the first attempt, my settings have changed ... from GMT -03:00 to GMT -01:00.

I had to apply, my user locale to the default user profile and now works fine your PE. Nothing has changed now. You should see this. Not all apply your personal settings to the default user profile.

*** The logs are of the second test ***

---------------

But I think this is somewhat complicated, for example: on partitions damaged ( that have the SO) ... would be necessary (before) do a chkdsk. And if the files of the Windows registry is damaged, also it will be problems ...

Sorry, there is a glitch in the tool (boot_Monkey already reported). I'm working on that.
