Put WAIK on a CD-Rom

1.WAIKX86.MSI (VISTA WAIK)
2.WINPE.CAB (WIN7 WAIK)
3.NETFXX86.EXE (YOU CAN TAKE IT FROM ANY VERSION OF WAIK: WIN7 OR VISTA WAIK)
4.MSXML6X86.MSI (YOU CAN TAKE IT FROM ANY VERSION OF WAIK: WIN7 OR VISTA WAIK)
NOTE: NETFXX86 and MSXML6X86 are dependencies for Windows XP so if you have Windows 7 or Vista you can skip the download of the 3rd and the 4th file.
Now you can say: wait a second, that means that I have to download both WAIK ISOs? The answer is NO. We will use a little program called httpdisk that allows you to extract a file from a remote IMG or ISO without needing to download the whole file.
You can find a topic about it here: http://reboot.pro/13049/
If you have no IDEA on how to use httpdisk or you do not want to use the command prompt use this script that I made for you. it contains httpdisk files for i386. thanks for the author. I hope you will not be angry with me because I am using it. I'm including a copy of the httpdisk archive in the file that i'm attaching.
NOTE:
if you want to make a WAIK disc for the amd64 processor simply edit the file called WAIK.CMD that there is in the archive: replace the "X86" at the end of any filename (you must not change the winpe.cab) with "amd64": example: "waikx86.exe" should be changed in "waikamd64.exe"
HOW TO USE MY PACKAGE
1. Save all the unsaved work
2. Extract my package wherever you want
3. Run httpdisk_setup.cmd (the system will be rebooted after that)
4. Run WAIK.cmd
5. burn the waik folder contnent in a blank CD-Rom
HOW TO USE THE MINI WAIK DISK
if on Windows xp
Install .NET Framework (netfxx86.exe) and the MSXML 6 (MSXML6X86.MSI) and then install WAIK (waikx86.msi)
if on Windows Vista/7
simply install WAIK (waikx86.msi)
WAIK WINDOWS 7 ISO

WAIK WINDOWS VISTA ISO

Seriously, what is wrong with USB flash drives? Why is there a need for this?

I don't know if we (me and Steve) need this tutorial, but it might help other people out there.
Thank you for making it available, the more options, the better.

Four years ago I was still physically carrying important documents from one military unit to another using nothing more than floppy disks. It was really frustrating trying to find new boxes of floppy disks around the city or getting floppy drives for the new workstations. Nowadays CD's are employed.
I don't know if we (me and Steve) need this tutorial, but it might help other people out there.

Nuno, you don't actually need to use a CD-ROM. you can put the waik folder on a USB flash drive and install WAIK from there on all the workstation you need

For those working in PC repair (in some countries like Argentina) some people want to use machines with 10-year-old ... which does not boot from usb. Obviously these machines have 256 mb or 512 mb of ram, and up to 1GB DDR. And too... obviously no one would install Windows7 on a machine of this type ...Nuno, you don't actually need to use a CD-ROM. you can put the waik folder on a USB flash drive and install WAIK from there on all the workstation you need
But these machines need to boot a CD/ DVD reader.
Edit: Here 1 U$S = 5 $

the WAIK is not an OS, it is a program that creates a WinPE distro that can be copied on a USB flash drive or burned into a CD-Rom. 512MB of RAM is just fine to run Windows 7's Windows PE and to boot from usb flash drive on this old machines you can use a program called PLOP boot manager. Download the ISO and boot from CD-Rom, then select USB or something else and it will boot from the Flash Drive.

@ChrisR
thanks for the tool! but does it allows you to download different files from different WAIK versions? you see... in Windows PE 3.0 (Windows 7 WAIK) the file waikx86.msi needs not only WinPE.cab but neutral.cab and aikx86.cab too, and if you calculate the amount of data that you copy you will realize that the Vista's waikx86.msi is more lightweight. Instead Vista's WinPE.cab is bigger that Windows 7's WinPE.cab hope that I explained good... xD

Ok sorry ChrisR I understood bad what you were saying. that's a cool software...but this tutorial wants to show you how to download a minimal WAIK distro in order to build your own Windows PE

yep, with the httpdisk unsigned drivers, good tutorial for thisOk sorry ChrisR I understood bad what you were saying. that's a cool software...but this tutorial wants to show you how to download a minimal WAIK distro in order to build your own Windows PE
but also, in another way (IMHO very good), JFX GetWaikTools.exe by downloading in less than 14 Mb, the needed files for PE in Vista Waik, Win7 Waik and Win8 ADK.
Waik_2 amd64/ia64/x86: imagex.exe, intlcfg.exe, oscdimg.exe, peimg.exe(x86) ssshim.dll, wdsmcast.exe, wimfltr.inf, wimfltr.sys, wimgapi.dll Waik_3 amd64/ia64/x86: bcdboot.exe, imagex.exe, intlcfg.exe, oscdimg.exe, ssshim.dll, wdsmcast.exe, wimgapi.dll, wimmount.inf, wimmount.sys, WimMountInstall.exe, wimserv.exe Waik_4 amd64/x86: bcdboot.exe, bcdedit.exe, bootsect.exe, imagex.exe, oscdimg.exe, wimgapi.dll, wimmount.sys, WimMountInstall.exe, wimserv.exe
For your tools with httpdisk, which allows access to other files.
You can, perhaps added to your tutorial the way to enable unsigned drivers and to set your x64 Windows in testmode.

Well can you show us how to build a Windows PE only with that files if I don't own a Windows 7 Installation disk?

Do you have to enable unsigned drivers to install httpdisk driver? I've just copied some stuff from httpdisk archive to the System32 and System32drivers directory. What is testmode? you know I don't have a 64bit Windows copy but a 32...

Yes, I go into test mode on my win7 x64 host when I have to install unsigned drivers.Do you have to enable unsigned drivers to install httpdisk driver? Extract files out of WAIK without downloading whole WAIK first

You are also missing the PE 3 supplementary updates for win7 sp1 from:
http://www.microsoft...ls.aspx?id=5188
I'll see if it's worth it to integrate the update. We want a minimal version of WAIK
