Nice !
But Personally I don't like Norton Antivirus.
There are free bootable Disks by Kaspersky and BitDefender, and i guess they are a better option !

@jamal
If I get it right, and in a nutshell, the guys from Symantec ask to put in a legally obtained serial number or PIN, and you suggest to input twelve X's instead?

I wonder why, if this was intended by the Copyright holder, and the tool is actually free for everyone, why the good Symantec guys didn't put this kind of info on the homepage of the tool.

Wonko, in the first edition of this tool a couple of months ago, Symantec asked for a 25 digits legally purchased product key, and back then you could use any key from Norton AV or Norton IS 2008-2009-2010-2011 to input when you use the recovery tool.

Recently and generously Symantec seems that they offered this tool for free as advertised, and they changed the 25 digits product key input, they changed it to as you see a 12 digit pin code, where you actually input any combination of keys there to proceed with using the software, and not just the 12 X digits I suggested in the tutorial.

So what is your suggestion?

I don't have *any*.

Personally I stay clear of ANYTHING produced by Symantec since 2004, so I have NO idea (nor personal interest) in this or ANY other tool from them.

I simply wondered that if it is actually "free" then there is no need for a PIN, and since I am not going to download 165 Mb of (to me) perfectly unuseful software to be able to read it's EULA or to click on the "Where do I find my PIN?" link on the install wizard, I guess this queer behaviour won't have a meaningful explanation.

Puting Xs works but putting numbers does not work:

first you didnt read the tutorial and you didnt know it works with Xs..now when you discovered it work with Xs you want it to work with 1s..while you dont know also that number 1 is not in the dictionary of Norton product keys..so why dont you use the combination that works (Xs) and spare us the unnecessary comments? :D

Well, it doesn't seem very nice to me asking someone to spare his/her comments, because you find them "unnecessary", this is an open community, remember, and every comment is welcome as long as it isn't nasty towards another member. :)

Also, if you had read last post by jamal on this thread, :

the one by bootluva may appear far less "unnecessary". :D

Thank You Jamal For Fantastic Post, I was badly needing a good working Antivirus for my NativeEx_Win7 build so I thought This would fit the bill, but sadly NO, I tried to chainload the NBRT.iso into my NativeEx_Win7 Grub Menu but could not get it to load properly from the grub menu, although the NBRT.iso would load just fine in VM without grub Menu.
So being dissatisfied with with arrangement I proceeded to write NortonBootableRecoveryTool.script and I now have Norton within my PE Build thanks to your tutorial.
With Permission from Nuno I would like to make my script available to Winbuilder Public if that would be OK.
Yes, The Pin does work with all X's
and the virus defs are dated Oct 20 2010,
if you have network connection in your PE Build
Norton Bootable Recovery Tool Will Autoupdate Virus Definitions
Right Now I have it running from CD so I may need to make
some changes in my .script

Thanks Jamal
Right now I'm consulting with Nuno to see if Symantec will allow publishing of my script with their files contained within. If Symantec will not allow me to include their files in my script, I will have to write an alternative script for the Winbuilder community, Until then here some eye candy of my working NativeEX_Win7 Build with working NBRT.script

I'm trying to post pictures of my norton script, but can't seem to get it to work, I need some help please with trying to embed my .jpgs into my posts.
