#1

Just a quick advisory note! If you have come to this post to to look at the tables, then I have to inform you that they have been moved to the tutorials section which is probably a better place for them. The new "Tables" link is as follows:
http://www.boot-land...?showtopic=4696
At the time of amending this post todays date is 17/05/08. In approximately 4 weeks time I will delete this post also, that should be enough time for everyone to get used to the new location of the "Tables"
Sorry for the inconvenience!

and have found the project tables to be a verry good thing in providing an moa clear view of the options avalible
so...
proj-name, proj-discr, hdd, cd,dvd, usb, ram, network, vurtual, floppy , authors ,SOURCE(OS) Wnroot ,windows on floppy <br/> without guiDriver ,yes ,yes ,yes ,yes ,yes ,yes ,yes ,yes ,Aero XP ,xp/2k3 WBXPE ,buildfrom -xps2 ,unknown ,yes ,yes ,unknown ,unknown ,unknown ,unknown ,no , H7SE, xp|sp2 Win3.1 <br/> custom ,load win3.1 <br/> from cd ,yes ,yes ,no ,no ,no ,no ,no ,no ,AsiekierKa ,3.1ms-win ModPE ,ModularLiveXP ,yes ,yes ,yes ,yes ,no ,no ,yes ,no , draugen ,xp/2k3 StandardProjectXP ,predecessor <br/>liveXP ,yes ,yes ,yes ,unknown ,yes ,unknown ,yes ,no, comunty ,xp/2k3
using the information from the older-project tables (above)
converted into a more 'raw' format [ c,s,v ]
along with (Scrrun.dll)-FileSystemObject (used to read/write |csv/html)
and java script/dom and hta
i have now a method to process this csv -content into html
so! the project tables can be formated into html (by scripted means)
if found tobe use full it is posible with this menthod
to link directly to the projects/authors(& other relevent information) with in the forums
also the size is smaller compared with doc/pdf
and of corce u view html in ur browser .
to preview 'output' copy code below and save as WinBuilder_Old-ProjectTables.htm

If you click on the link to the new tables http://www.boot-land...?showtopic=4696
you will find my new simplistic web-site from a free hoster that displays the tables in their full aspect ratio complete with embedded hyper links to link to both "Projects & Developers" (For now).
As time goes on I will add further tutorials that could be linked to other items in the tables, like bootable media, HDD to Floppy etc & the yes's & no's could have links as the web page is scrollable to allow further content addition.
Or if you prefer the direct approach take a gander & see what you think?

Yes! That is good. you should host it in the bootland server or winbuilder server so it wont have all that advertisement.Or if you prefer the direct approach take a gander & see what you think?

One suggestion to the links you link to. Make the links open a new window that way the user will still have the tables open.

Sorry for the quickie cryptic reply, but literally secs from going on holiday/vacation. Will be back on 21/06/08, can we discuss @ further length then? Your proposals seem good but I do not know how to setup on Boot-Lands server?

Got to go CYA soon,

4 the links ... just add target -attribute . eg <a target="_blank" href="#sum place in the sun">link</a>
... tho the target="" could also be used to open all links in the same new window , eg target="_projectLink".. this will try to find window with name/id '_projectLink' if /when it can find that window it should create new '_projectLink' window ,
if now another links search the target name/id , they will/should find and 'target' that window
no adds would be a + ..
ispy did u use the hta to make those tables ..eg do u have a updated copy of info in 'raw' format
or was there more to it
nicely done tho

Nothing so grand I'm afraid I am nothing but a big fraud & will stoop to any level to cheat!
Basically the tables were compiled using a "Portable version" of open office Calc & TheHive suggested the colour scheme as my attempt was putrid!
I have since been giving the tables some further consideration in the respect of suggestions that TheHive made in respect of displaying them within Boot-Land rather than an external web-page, cuz of the advertisements etc. Also I think it may be beneficial for me to upload the master copy with some basic instructs on how it was compiled. In that way they can be easily amended/improved adapted etc to suit changing needs etc additional categories could be added & more projects come into development. They will not be dependant on one individual so to speak
The file on the web-site is an Html file that was created using the "save as" .html option in "Calc" however it moaned a bit about not being able to save this & that but I pushed on regardless & the result is what you see on the web-site.
Also a further idea was to use some icons with a suitable key as Boot-Land is an international site to ease understanding & make the table more generic visually speaking "a picture speaks a thousand words in any language?"
Anyway will wait for feedback & will sign off for now!

Hi rawral ,
Nothing so grand I'm afraid I am nothing but a big fraud & will stoop to any level to cheat!
well if u say so .. its all about personal preference what ever method gets the results with least hassle ..
tho the html(code) sure was no work of art to lookat.. but when rendered(by browser) its no different to the original ..
few thoughts tho
- Operating Systems that a Project can be Built From!
seems to repeat the project-name/description/author sections
of the boot criteria(first bit) with no obvious advantage ..
from my view it seems more legible to
add/append an extra (<td>) column after author's - titled source-OS with this information
the icon/images ideal cant be bad tho
its also possible to add extra / hidden information , to any tag using title="stuff and things" attribute ..
the text held inside title='' will be displayed when the mouse hovers over the TAG containing the title
eg <p title="eg Qemu">Virtual</p>
& when/if
editing attributes inside the tags -Syntax Highlighting makes this task sooooo much less hassle

I think the best thing to do is to get the master copy & the .html file uploaded onto the Boot-Land server in some way so that both you & the Hive & anyone else for that matter can make improvements because if we all playing with the same file (unless radical changes are needed) we have a common starting point? I will need to find out off TheHive how to do this?
