1. Go to YouTube, open the video that you want to download
2. Now you have to make a small change in video link [ Replace "www" to "ss"]
For example,

3. After it will redirect to a new site http://en.savefrom.net
4. Now you have to choose the format of the video like mp4,3gp,flv and also shows the video quality like 240p,360p,720p,1080p

Please report back whether this works for you. This is what I came across today while surfing Facebook.

How to disable this embedded player? I want to post the URL only, not the media itself. I tried to replace [media] tag manually with [url], but it does not seem to work.

Like:

For example,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWnNyT3QTSQ
http://ssyoutube.com/watch?v=EWnNyT3QTSQ

Do you understand the difference beween "vague":

This is what I came across today while surfing Facebook.

And exactly citing the source:

don't you? :dubbio:

Actually you go here:
www.savefrom.net
and paste the link to the youtube video.

Now, how can this magic happen?
Most probably they registered a domain:
http://whois.domaint...m/ssyoutube.com
redirecting to savefrom.net, and obviously you may NOT replace the www. with ss, but simply ADD ss after the dot an before youtube.com....

Yep, the not-so-subtle hint is that it seems like you posted the actual link only because you weren't able to create a readable post, or, if you prefer, that originally you posted a "vague" reference and if you would have been able to post "properly" that link would have never been posted.

BTW, the given link is posted in such a way as it was a "new discovery" from the guy that owns the blog ...

This is a better reference though ;) (direct from the mouth of the wolf):

Hi folk!

Right, Sherlock asked a good question, though the answer was not satisfying, it still was a good question,
which is the way (fictitious) Sherlock works. (maybe :P)
The question, Everyone is once in a while wondering how to download from YouTube.
Used to be simpler, then they changed. Every once in a while I am wondering how to dl youtube.
Why the %$! is everything so stupid?
Btw, Sherlock, Kissyoutube exists also (and by the way, both have existed for years!). Works the same way.

So, you prompted me to look, again :).

In the end, that is, if it works, I got an answer,
why use third party apps when you have everything available?
The video is there. Just convert it. (I don't claim it will automatically download, you still have to wait for buffering.
It is probably as long as a 'real dl'.

Read this:
http://www.lee.org/b...e-chrome-cache/
and this
http://www.frozax.co...-cache-gzipped/ ,
and this http://www.sensefuls...e-easy-way.html .

First and second, where is Chrome cache. (IE used to be easy).
Chromecacheview.exe, view the files :/ in the cache.
Select different modes (view audio, htm, etc), and try see if there is a file the size of a vid.
I didn't find any vid.

Buffer

Chrome only caches Youtube videos for some time. First step (see links):
buffer the video fully, but press pause. Then it won't be deleted from cache.

about:cache.
(in the addressbar)
One gets: Chrome:view-http-cache.
A list of files appear. Click one and you'll get info about it.

To see the actual files, strip down the url a little. For example, change

chrome://view-http-cache/http://somesite/image.jpg to http://somesite/image.jpg.

Or some file.ext. to save/recuperate another type of file. 3rd link is a converter. I tried to convert a video :P, freezes. But a png was ok.

Chrome Hex Viewer

So, yeah, Chrome is/has (can display as) an hex viewer.
Right.
You get headers, on eleven lines, and the (3 column) hex code-binary mashup of the video (or file) after.
We need to extract.
The process is simple, 20 lines of batch would do. Probably 10. 5 :dubbio: ?
But I can't seem to cut it!

Wonkoooo! I hereby request your help!
And RobVan's -or for that matter anyone in batch and hex.

Fake code:
copy a string, from a file, from 9nth character, for a length of 32.
Repeat until eof.

More advanced batch,
-open Chrome about:cache
-findstr youtube.com/video (link)
-open link
-save page as file%number%.hex
-convert

Mmm, I suspect you suspect there is a flaw... (I would say a missing header on the converted file).

betrand, I'll try to be simple and direct: I am not much in quizzes, you either find a way to explain what the heck you need/want, or the game ends now. :(

If somehow you manage to provide *something* and a *new something* after the transformation then I might :dubbio: be able to help you in making a batch/whatever to perform the same transformation.

What I am NOT going to do:
  • install Chrome
  • find it's cache
  • study it's format
  • search a few hours for previous work on the matter
  • finally understand what §@ç#ing string you are talking about (and part of WHICH file it is, etc, etc.)
It's not the first time that you start babbling about something without any apparent sense, without providing details, etc. and I already tried to explain you how essential it is to be EXACT, PRECISE; trying to make yourself clear and need not n loops of questions to do so, I had enough of this in the past:

Hi!

Not difficult really! (edit: for this part)
Chrome keeps data in html (xhtml?) format.
The data is stored only (for videos) for the duration of the video.
The neat trick is to pause the video when it is buffered.
Then you type about:cache in the address-bar.
This gives a list of all data files of the cache.
Look for youtube.com/videoplayback.
It will enlighten all the links to the stored file where the (paused) video are.
Click one of the links, the page will display a header (as paste1 post12),
and a Hex form display of the data of the video, paste2.

This data is unuseable as is, as copying it will give offsets/hex/ascii.
The question was relating to extracting the hex only, ie not copy
the 000000000 part, nor the ascii.

This is simpler than I had thought, ie something like:

@echo off

setlocal enabledelayedexpansion

for /f "tokens=*" %%a in (vid.txt) do (

set line=%%a

set chars=!line:~9,32!

echo !chars!

echo !chars!>>vid.flv

Or something similar (tested quickly).
Edit: actually the 9,32 are for a file where I replaced "2 spaces" between each bytes with no character. So here
9, 48. Also for the test I only copied the data part into vid.txt. No header.
This does what I wanted.
The problem is (as I'd thought), the header. There is none. So anyway, it's not going anywhere.

It's really some sort of 'salvage' thingy: there is some data, what can be done.
I obviously remember the Old posts! So few people here try things out in cmd, batch,
or even less hex, so by asking questions I always hope people will understand a bit,
'see what sticks' kind' a thing.
These days I'm not very much on Reboot, it's just a quick sort of thing I was doing, so freeform kind of questionning.

Naa! It's Xflv, not Flv. It is a stream. So even if one knows the data length etc other info, it remains impossible to do manually.

Read a few pages. A good one is http://stackoverflow...youtube-flv-url.
All these things generally need php and all that, it's what I wanted (naively) to avoid, and the alternatives
are obviously Downloaders.
On the topic, if you want only a few octets of a vid, for editing, Wireshark seems to be allright.

So, let's do things simply. Original www.ssyoutube way!

Ok! I'm off. See ya.

This seems to be a related thread. I have a question about video downloading may i ask here. Recently, i downloaded this software in order to download twitter videos. As you can see (http://www.videoconv...tter-video.html). After the whole downloading process, it asked me to preset bit rate and resolution. Do you know what is the relation between these 2 parameters? Is it correct that the higher values i set the better output will be?
