Greetings,

I am trying the test a keyboard application using WinPE 5.0 and for some reason I am unable to use Ctrl-Alt-Delete function under WinPE 5.0.

Is there anything that I need to add to my build that allows me to use Ctrl-Alt-Delete? I have search around the forums but was unable to locate any information on my problem.

Thanks Keith

Does Ctrl-Alt-Del not work OR does the keyboard test not work for Ctrl-Alt-Del?

There is at lest another report here for the latter:
http://www.passmark....l-does-not-work

Is this the same issue as:
http://reboot.pro/to...g-ctrl-alt-del/

Actually both CTRL-ALT-DEL does not bring up the taskmgr type Window and I am using the Passmark keyboard test and noticed that when you press CTRL-ALT-DEL you never see the DEL key being pressed but if you press each of the keys independently that the Passmark keyboard test verifies that each key was properly pressed.

Thanks Keith

Does CTRL-ALT-DEL work in any WinPE for opening the taskmgr window? This may depend on the shell used and other factors. More information regarding your build would be useful.

I recall CTRL-ALT-DEL working under WinPE 3.0 but have not seen it work under WinPE 4.0 or WinPE 5.0 so not sure if something changed.

Hello,

Sorry for my bad english.

I use some Powershell scripts to customise a boot.wim by adding a desktop (shell = explorer.exe), PS, MSTSC, BITS, MMC, MSI, IE (not fully ok)...

(googleing MicroWinpeBuilder, scripts are based on the work of many other guys )

And if i open the session with "administrator" ( yes, it's possible) , then CRTL+ALT+DEL offers the possibility "lock, change user, disconnect, modify pwd, task manager" and in the bottom there is a button to stop or reboot.

But in the "normal" session with the "system" account, no possibility for "CRTL+ALT+DEL".

I swap between the two sesions with : "tscon 1" to return to the "system" session and with "tscon 2" to return to the "administrator" session.

so :

Is there anything that I need to add to my build that allows me to use Ctrl-Alt-Delete?

reply : yes, use "administrator" session !

hope this help.

OT (but not much) In the good ol' times a known issue with XP embedded (when using minlogon instead of Winlogon) was the impossibility to "trap" CTRL+ALT+DEL, JFYI:
http://www.msfn.org/...elete-function/

more or less since the user with minlogon is "System", and the user of a PE should as well be "System", maybe there is a connection.

The thread on MP3CAR forum with the CAD_TRAP.ZIP is still available here:
http://www.mp3car.co...l-with-minlogon

http://www.mp3car.co...etch?id=2292799

Maybe it works for the PE?

Since the "normal" way seemingly works with PE 3.x but not with PE 4.x+, maybe it is just a mattter of a missing Registry entry (or however something relatively simple) that the good MS guys "forgot" adding at a given point in time? :dubbio:

How do you go about adding "administrator" session to WinPE? When I did a net user command it mentions the user accounts for \\

administrator  (space) user.

Thanks Keith
