Unfortunately I'm still a beginner and I don't understand the procedures fine.
My scenario is: a xp pc (server) and 2client diskless to use as 2 htpc......
how can I configure everything?
Help step by step ...if it is possible

Hi

Anybody tried ZFS baсked targets instead of Starwind for gPXE boot?

i.e. Opensolaris, with both target daemons iscsitgtd and iscsi/target
or FreeNAS, with a freebsd target?

I experience issues especially with gPXE initiator and have no clue how to debug

Hello Gents,

Just a small update to the procedure boot over iscsi found here http://erwan.labalec.fr/iscsi :

You can skip the dhcp/tftp server by using a boot disk (floppy or cdrom) made by gpxe.
Indeed, this part is not always indeed as you need an additional software / server.

Go to http://rom-o-matic.n...matic/build.php ,
choose floppy image as output format,
choose pcnet as NIC Type,
tick time_cmd and digest_cmd,
and use the following embedded script :

echo "Greetings! Hit Ctrl-C to bail out."
sleep 5
echo "Going to DHCP on primary network adapter"
ifopen net0
dhcp net0
set keep-san 1
sanboot iscsi:192.168.1.100::::w2k8
boot

Use this boot disk on your physical computer or in your virtual image.
Now the booting computer will go straight to your iscsi target to fetch the O.S.

Note: I had difficulties booting iSCSI, connection timeout. After long investigations, I found out that this was due to XP firewall blocking port 3260. You need either to allow StarwindService application, or to allow port 3260 TCP. Once this port is allowed, everything boots very well!

Connecting Through Windows Firewall (Windows XP with SP3: The Windows Firewall is enabled by default):

netsh firewall add allowedprogram "%ProgramFiles%\Rocket Division Software\StarWind\StarWindService.exe" "Rocket Division StarWind iSCSI Service" ENABLE

command will be on a single line!

I have the same issue (BSOD) as described by both ktp and Michel Belleau when trying to boot Windows XP Professional SP3.

an update of the NIC driver after Initiator boot and sanbootconf install. NIC service reverted to START= 3 and had to be START= 0

Still BSOD after change...

All my settings on the DHCP/TFTP/PXE/target server side are correct as i can successfully boot MOA 2.4 as described by sanbarrow in post #41.

Could you include the new gpxe-1.0.1-undi.pxe release in your IPTools package.
Not sure which custom settings do you apply to the standard we can build http://www.rom-o-mat...ib/rom-o-matic/
and you should not add m$ boot files to your IPTools package.

Could you export "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\CriticalDeviceDatabase" of a successfull boot of Windows XP Embedded or Pro via iSCSIboot and post.
I would like to compare with mine.
