Hi,

This is my current desktop, I've been trying out different themes and icon sets mostly because the standard ones are always a bit too standard and it's fun to tweak around until things look a bit better.. ^_^

I've called it "darker feel" and it's a mix from several different authors.

If there's any interest I can also provide the download links for the artwork.

If you're using gnome, why not sharing a pic of your desktop as well?

:good:

I'd rather use a good free OS than be forced to use an OS like Vista.. :)

Well.. the topic is related to Gnome but I guess we can change the title to something simpler like "Post your desktop" - what do you think?

Whats Wrong with Windows?

Not windows in general, my grudge is exclusive to Vista.

- eats away too much RAM
- slug to boot and slug to shutdown
- gets infected as often as XP even with the UAC annoyances
- poor eye candy (as compared to compiz on linux)

So, I definitively have more fun with Ubuntu.

Come on :) what can make me stop using Windows! (not that I don't like Linux)

I need the following to switch to FULL Linux:

*Nice Graphics Strategy game (think : AoE3 and expansions, Red Alert 3 )
*A neat MSN alternative
*A way to Play STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl with mods without the constant Wine Pain!
*And please some nice utility to set-up my connection (I don't like the PPPOE CONFIG much :)
*Printer Drivers? Last time I tried installing a printer in Linux it was a big pain!

MMM keep this gnome Desktops only!

And I also prefer KDE :)

For games, my friends around here use dual boot. No better alternative to take advantage of the hardware.

For MSN there are some good programs, most people only talk about pidgin but personally I recommend:

- Emesene
- aMSN

For me, I'm more of a skype user, there is a client developed by skype itself for linux.

And please some nice utility to set-up my connection (I don't like the PPPOE CONFIG much

Yes, not having built-in support is a disappointment. But you might be interested to try out the latest Ubuntu 9.04 that will be released within a few days. Since 8.10 that I use the network manager to start my USB 3G modem, very nice and works much better than the windows software. Maybe they add support to your hardware as well, if not, it helps to fill out a feature-request.

Printer Drivers

What is your printer? Luckily my HP works good.

:)

Some kind of a Xerox is my Printer :(

I do not dual boot , but I keep a Live CD of Ubuntu 7.10 :) and I use it i f I really need to!
Those MSN alternatives really aren't the best thing ever , trust me , I've tried every trick using them up to no avail!

Than again I'll get a new Live CD when 9.04 is released :)

oh and HAVE A HAPPY TIME NUNO :)

-Benxhi :) :)

That's too bad too hear, maybe one day things get better.

Why don't you start a new topic called "Windows screenshots" and post your own there? I would certainly like to view how the desktop from other members around here looks like just for fun.

:)
