Good.

Now we need only 34485-1-1-1-1=34481 similar posts to be absolutely certain that attachments download doesn't work for ALL members. :)

Recent downloads don't work but old ones do. On RMPrepUSB post #1, more recent dwonloads don't work - any idea if/when this will be fixed or should I re-upload?

... or should I re-upload?

And what makes you assume that uploading is functional? :wodoo:

http://www.boot-land...?...10777&st=22

In any case, even if they were, don't you think that if old uploads are functional and new ones are not, re-uploading would be a new upload and thus not functional? <_<

Nuno is working on the problem:
http://www.911cd.net...o...2416&st=128

I presume it wil be a matter of hours, a day or two at most.

OK - thanks. I thought that the problem might be solved now for new uploads but that the affected uploads may be 'stuck' and a new upload might work...

If old uploads work and new ones don't then clearly there is a difference between the two 'types' of upload and that this problem might be fixed now so a new upload would be saved as the 'working'/'old' type now. I don't think this is such a silly thing to suggest (as you seem to be hinting) <_<

I was just kidding a bit :) (hadn't yet obliged to Rule #12 today).

You weren't around at the time of the "friendly names on"+"friendly names off" +"board software update" issues.

You can have a nice sample of a recent issue on another board here:
http://www.msfn.org/...howtopic=142681

Basically half of the links on the board went beserk, TWO times, due to changes in the way the board software behaves (mind you different releases of SAME software)

I presume that same thing (somehow changed syntax in links) is happening right now for attachments. :wodoo:

I.e. it is well possible, that, just like the "generic" links, we have:
  • a good ol' syntax (always working)
  • a bad ol' syntax (right now not working)
  • a new syntax (possibly working)

A file uploaded under #1 will work, one under #2 won't, one under #3 may work, but won't as soon as #2 is re-implemented (in order to re-enable a great number of currently dead attachments).

<_<

A new issue which IMO is based on the same trouble:

I got an e-mail notification about "Author is asking for help" with the URL http://www.boot-land...;showtopic=8882
.
When clicking, a nice error message appeared:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 12582912 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 1268461 bytes) in /var/www/vhosts/boot-land.net/httpdocs/forums/sources/classes/attach/class_attach.php on line 546

The link is working but sometimes the server runs out of available memory to serve the page.. :wodoo:

Please check if attachments are back online.

I've disabled one of the optimizations that was likely causing this annoyance. We lose performance but at least attachments should be ok.

Will try to move the MySQL database to another server to distribute the processing load.

I'm not sure that you are right. "Sometimes" does not desrcibe correctly.

I clicked the link 30 times, and 30 times I got the error.

Maybe correct is:

Sometimes you have success,

Peter :wodoo:

EDIT: Cross posting!

Attachments are working again :wodoo:
But my last complain still exists.

Then I'll consider it as "working".

The problem of attachments and page display is now associated to server overload.

Will try to solve it.
